SOURCE: 2008 Subaru Impreza RS Central Locking

The red light on the dash has several blinking patterns, just depending on what you set if for. But no matter what setting (valet mode or armed mode) the key fob should still work for the doors. If the unlock is not working, but the lock is working your problem is in the remote. If you open it up you will find that the rubber peice that makes contact with the board is broken. The remotes will need to be replaced, which is covered under the factory wrty. If the lock and unlock does not work at all then there is a programming issue, the dealer can reprogram the remotes for you. The reprogramming has to be done by the dealer. they have to hook up a lap top and program the remotes. The older models could be done easily.

SOURCE: I have a 1999 Subaru Impreza- Remote locking

First, it may seem obvious, but check the fuses associated with the remote unlock. Next, go to Autozone or somewhere like that where they have a remote tester. That will tell if the remote is functional. If the remote works and the fuses are good, see if you can find out how to program remotes to it. It may have forgotten the code for that remote.

It should be: TY754VBAAA

This sonds like a boost issue as a fault in the waste gate or turbo could be the culprit.Using as boost gauge, verify proper positive boost in this power band range.

Impreza 2000 turbo uk model

Yes, there IS a known oiling problem:

Subaru TSB 02-103-07
Applicability: All Turbo Equipped Vehicles
Subject: Turbocharger Oil Supply Mesh Screen
http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/graphics/subaru_oil/02-103-07.pdf

"... If clogged or restricted, it will reduce or cut off oil supply to the turbo, resulting in failure. ..."

Your turbo may be toast! ***ouch!***
I have found more info on 2004 - 2007 models, but may or may not be applicable to your 2000 Impreza. I am not familiar with the the UK model differences, but if yours has AVCS use your favorite internet search engine to search for "Subaru AVCS" or "Subaru TSB". Good luck!
