It should have a heat sensor somewhere in the block that tells it when to turn on, the heat sensor is probably bad.

SOURCE: electric cooling fans will work.

The fans are actuated by coolant temp in the radiator. It is possible to have overheated coolant in the radiator, causing the steam, and your engine not overheating...the temp sensor for your engine is reflecting the engine temp, not the temp of the coolant in the radiator. You problem could be a bad temp sensor at the radiator...not allowing the fans to come on. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan sport with 3.3L

The relay is located down at the left lower corner of the radiator support. Little flat box, like a box of matches. common to be bad.

Testimonial: "Thank you for the help. The problem as I see it is I can't find said switch anywhere on the web. I can find a radiator relay fan, but no switch"

SOURCE: 97 dodge cooling fans stoped working

If you have checked the relay module under the fans,on drivers side, and they are fine, replace the coolant sensor, and make sure all the air is bled out of the cooling system.

if your engine is overheating could be the problem of the ac not working , check the temperature sending unit located by thermostat housing , if it is bad will not let the radiator fan come on when ac is on and will cause your high side pressure ac line to get to hot causing the high side switch to disable the fan , also check the blower motor resistor it controls speed of blower motor

My electric cooling fans arent working, or appear not to be working. my radiator was boiling a few days ago, does this sound like a problem?

yes it does, check the relays to the fans, and also the fuses, they should be in the under the hood fuse box, once you determine that the fans work ( turn on the ac and see if it starts it should ) you can move that relay to the normal fan relay spot, ( if you have 2 fans ) if your car still over heats after knowing the fans are working,, check the thermostat

temperature switch. The temperature switch finishes the circuit for the cooling fan. Once the engine reaches the specified optimal temp. the switch completes the circuit and turns the cooling fan on. Hope this helps

Make sure all your ground connections are good and clean. That includes the main one from the battery to the block, fender and block to firewall and several other smaller ones on the block. Make sure the connectors are clean and have power where it should be. You have a fan relay behind and below the rt headlamp. that is the primary one for the fan. Don't forget that there are connectors under the power distribution center. A good fuse connected to a bad connector won't work.

What would cause my radiator fans not to run

A lot of different things fall into this senario.Low coolant level, air in the cooling system, and a stuck thermostat,or,a bad coolant sensor,or even a bad cooling fan relay,or the cooling fans are bad.Turn the defrost on or the ac,the cooling fans should come on if the fans, and the relay are ok,if so,replace the thermostat, and coolant sensor, and bleed the cooling system of air.

Overheating and Dont know where the water is going?

change your temp sensor if there is one bc i believe like my car it regulates fan function when hot. Also see if you got enough oil (trust me) and burp the hell out of the coolant system. Then see is you relays for the fans are good. Basically switch them with equal relays but dont switch with primary system relays also check your fuses that may help

The ECU drives a relay which in turn drives the fan. Trace the fan wiring back to the relay and check the plug connection. Does the fan turn freely by hand? If not, replace it. The fan needs a solid ground connection as well as power from the relay.
