Your speed sensor in your trans. needs to be checked out sounds like its not working or not getting a good signal until its generating enough power and speed to start until it reaches 30 MPH. Check that out sometimes it could just be some dirt on it. It all makes sense the ABS light is on because its not reading the speed of the tires, and the AOD light is on because It has no idea when to shift into overdrive without knowing how fast its going. I sure Hope that Helps You Out, And Thanks, Bear001

SOURCE: automatic transmission not shifting into 3rd or 4th

call a dealer and they will tell you you are suppose to change your transmission fluid every 2 years or 30,000miles but if you was carrying this much load you may have over heated the transmission so I would shop around and get a good deal at a transmission place where they can replace the filter and the fluid and adjust the bands on the transmission if needed

SOURCE: auto trans shifting VERY HARD, possible cause?

It could be several things but I will give you a few ideas anyways to try and avoid the costly Ford dealer mechanics. Check your transmission fluid to make sure that it is full and that is still good and red. You may also want to just go ahead and change your transmission fluid but when you do so remove your transmission pan. Inside your transmission pan is your automatic transmission fluid filter screen. Make sure to clean it thoroughly and put back on filling the transmission with new fluid. Cleaning the screen is probably the most likely thing that will help. You also might want to consider using a transmission fluid additive that will help it shift easier. I've had pretty good luck with Lucas's products. Hope this helps. Be sure to let me know how it goes and if you need more help clarifying. Goodluck.

How to tell what transmmison i hav in a 89 f250 with a diesel it is an auto

  • In 1989, Ford went from the C6 transmission to the E4OD. The C6 is a vacuum shift and the E4OD is an electronic shift, 1-2-3-OD.

89 F250 460 door sticker says trans code "k" what

Transmission Types : Ford E4OD/4R100, 4 Speed, Automatic Transmission
Comments: w/ Shallow Pan = 20 bolt holes 4 speed

Drive Trains : Four Wheel Drive
Transmission Types : Ford C6, 3 Speed, Automatic Transmission =17 bolts 3speed

What does the dash indicator say and does the stick have an od button on it? there is only 1 3 speed for the 460 and only 1 4speed for the 460

Engines:{300, 302, 351w}, {400, 351m, 460}, {6.9L, 7.3L IDI}, {352, 360, 390, ect.}
Fluid:
Pre '77: Type F
Post '77: Mercon
Display: PRND21
Pan 17 bolts "Utah" shape
Ratios:
1st 2.46:1
2nd 1.46:1
3rd 1.00:1
Trans code: K

so you should have the 3 speed acording to the code

Hi I have an 1988 sprint with an automatic (188,000 km) and it sometimes will loose 3rd and 2nd gear . Will still run in 1st .This problem only happens once and a while and when it is shifting it seem...

Sounds like you might have a bit of build up on one of the valve body pistons. I suggest running a can of Trans-X in the transmission for tank full of fuel and then changing the trans filter and fluid. This should clean up everything inside.

My legancy 2000 automatic gear shifts at ruv 3400 rpm .is it normal?

depends on gas pedal position, the lighter you are accelerating the earlier the trans should shift,if it always hangs on in gear get it looked at...as it can shift at redline (5000-6000 rpm,if you hold the gas peadl down fully).

1988 ford F-250 i have to accelerate hard to make it shift into 3rd gear but as soon as I let off gasd it goes back to 2nd.i changed fluid and filter.wondering if it is modulator valve.

Ford C6
Verify there is vacuum to modulator, the rubber line tends to break/falloff
Verify the kick-down cable is correct
Verify the linkage is correctly adjusted.
A C6 reads engine vacuum and throttle position to automatically shift

1988 jeep wrangler 6cylinder,5 speed trans, no a/c

Did you check the fuel filter? Did you check pump pressure? A faulty pump or a partially plugged filter can do this. Obviously filter is the first thing... it's easy to do and is often neglected, likely overdue for service anyhow! There are other things that can also cause your problem but I'd look at the common stuff first!
Good luck
