Inspect the little u shaped vacuum line on the purge solenoid as it can become soft and can collapse under vacuum.
If so replace and reset code. Hope this helps.

Engine code po442

I doubt code 442 would affect the performance of the engine. Code 442 is for a small leak in the EVAP system. The computer vents the gas tank to the vapor canister when the engine is running. The computer has detected a small leak in the venting system, usually a faulty gas cap or leaking vent hose.

The engine trouble light comes on I check it on my dianostic tool & I get a code 442. But I have no idea what that means, Can you help-?

Hello: 442 concern the evap system. It means you have a small leak. The most common item would be a gas cap that is not fully tight or the seal on the cap is dry and not sealing good. Try tightening the cap first, then get the code cleared and see if it comes back.
