Wow , no year, stated, that makes it hard, no?, im blind
nor the engine, i open the hood and see and empty pit. (blind i am)
gas or diesel?
1.4 L ET3 I4 (petrol)
1.6 L TU5 I4 (petrol)
1.6 L DV6 HDi I4 (diesel)
2.0 L EW10 I4 (diesel)
2.0 L DW10 HDi I4 (diesel)
(a metal key or a transponder key, an you only have 1 key for this car.
my wild guess
gas engine, lost spark. never tuned up. at 60k miles, or 100km.
diesel, same no service and fuel filters packed up.
key issues, if the immobilizer lamp glows, it will not start. (any car)

There is an item called a "setting saver" or something like that. It's a small power supply that plugs into the cigarette lighter, that keeps radio and computer active while changing battery. (I imagine you could make one by attaching a cigarette lighter power adapter to a good battery and plugging it in there.Don't use one with a transformer, just straight 12v!

usually you should do it for peugeot diesel at 122000 miles along with water pump and the tensioner roller that runs under the cambelt too. But to be on the safe side do it at 100000 and save the fortune.
It took me (DIY job) about 6-8 hours as i wanted to save 450 pounds.
