There are a few things that will cause a milky power steering fluid to become milky looking. 1. It is low and will become aerated. Looks more like foaming. Just add fluid. Most take transmission fluid, but check your owners manual. 2. Someone has added engine oil to the power steering. 3. Some how (missing cap) water has gotten in it. 2 and 3. Have to be flushed out. This can be done by removing the return line from the power steering pump (hose with the clamp on it, it is messy). you can cap the reservoir tube or just watch as you add fluid to keep it from coming out (Cap is best). Remove the coil plug. and crank the engine over. As the hose ejects fluid, add more fluid to it. Also you will have to turn the steering wheel full turns to the left and right. Do the turns twice and this will get rid of the old fluid. Replace the hose and fill as necessary. This job takes two people.
Time to change the power steering fluid. Some cars use power steering fluid, while other cars use transmission fluid. Do not use the wrong fluid in your car or you will have even bigger problems.
