Did you check the calipers? If you have a caliper hanging up (not fully retracting after braking) it will give that kind of noise and you might even feel a slight tug to the side where the caliper is hanging up. Does the noise go away when you step on the brakes? if so that is diagnostinc for a faulty caliper. You can get a rebuilt one fairly reasonably I would think and it is easy to change. You will need to bleed the brake lines after changing. Keep the brake line plugged up and covered to keep dirt etc out of the system while disconnected.

Did you check the rotors to see if they were cracked or 'thin' ? Rotors sometimes get really thin with use.And they can crack. Or as in one case that I know of there was sand between the rotor and the pads. The pads were also new. Removed the gravelly sand and they worked fine.

SOURCE: front brake pads & rotors on 2003 buick park avenue

first you put the car on stands and and then you take the two bolts out in back of the caliper and remove the caliper and then remove the pin in the center of the rotor and the nut and then take the rotor off and do not forget to repack the bearing with grease and then put it back together take one side apart at a time.just in case you need to take a look at how it goes back together

I have a 98 Chevy cavalier when I am driving up hill specially at low speed I hear a rumbling noise at the right side passengers side tire is this the axle or something else?

I had something like this happen similar with my girl friends car not to long ago. It was after she got her tires replaced I belive they messed up the rotors or something like that so they were grinding against the curometer. Idk if im getting the right words here, but its the circular part where the brake pad attaches to. We replaced the rotor and brake pads and then it ran just fine and didnt rumble or anything like that. So idk. That might be it im not sure. hope it helps.

I have an audi 2005 S4 - brakes grind

Your brakes grind because they are worn out and you have the metal of the brake pad grinding against your rotors. You will need to have your brake pads replaced as well as have your rotors turned to remove the roughness that is caused by the grinding. If you know how to replace the brake pads and want to make this a DIY project (much cheaper), you can take your rotors off and bring them down to your local auto store and they should be able to turn them for about $10-15 apiece.

Hope this helps!

My car makes a scrapping and or grinding noise when driving and braking like i'm dragging something it is a Ford Focus SE 2004

It a small piece of metal that rubs against your rotor, to let you know the brake pads need to be changed. It's an indicator before they get worn really bad. If this is not repaired you will spend more money to replace the rotors from the metal grinding into the metal rotor.

Where do you put the brake fluid on this car? Because, my car is making a grinding sound when I put my foot on the brake.

The grinding noise probably means you need to put new brakes on. If you fill the brake fluid reservoir, and then change the brakes, the new fluid will run out anyways, because the new brakes will have to be put in, and the fluid will run out.

The front driver's side brake sound like it is grinding. I have to tap the brake several times for it to stop. It happens mostly when I am driving in town slowly.

Hi,
Please have all the brake pads checked. If it's grinding, you possibly may be metal to metal on the rotor. This can not only cause damage to your rotor, it is dangerous for you, your passengers and other motorists. Hopefully it's just a rock or something and the pads and rotors are ok.
If after checking, it is determined the pads are wore out, I would highly recommend replacing them and having the rotors and drums turned. Brakes are crucial...
I hope this helps you and reaches you in a timely manner... God bless.
