2004 chevy suburban randomly shuts off while driving. Then will take a few times turning ignition to finally start back up. I have changed fuel filter and relay switch. It has been doing this for over 6 months. It will shut off a few times in one drive then won't again for two months????? Any thoughts????

REALLY sounds like a loose wire!
There are many places a loose wire could cause this.
For example, a body plug harness on the firewall, a wire on the starter, a wire on the battery, a wire on the ignition switch, a wire to the electrical junction box under the hood, etc.
Some causes of the loose wire are: A sloppy installation of a part, a car wreck improperly repaired, a loose wire from the factory, etc. God bless your efforts.

Many possible causes - have you looked for trouble codes (DTCs) with a code reader?

Why would my 96 chevy suburban start and run fine, then randomly not start?

It's not your alarm,it's your ignition switch which is about 250.00 then your truck will start fine. I chased that same issue around for two years and finally changed out the ignition switch not the key assembly but the wiring harness in the steering column.

My 2004 Chevy suburban won't start but there is a locked padlock on dashboard , is this why?

sound like problem in the theft security systm, try this insert another key in the ignition switch, the other key could be worn where pcm and bcm dont recognize it. and switch ignition on engine off watch padlock symbol with ignition switch left on 10 minutes the padlock symbol will extinguish or turn off then you will turn off ignition switch wait 5 seconds then try starting vechicle if start your theft security failing need let dealership check it out.

Check for power out of the ignition switch. It sounds like the ignition switch is not engaging on the first try and its taking that second turn to get power from the switch to the ECU and so forth. I would replace the switch and possibly the tumbler if the key comes out while the vehicle is running.

2002 chevy suburban shutting off whil driving in extreme heat

I had the same problem with mine. I installed a fuel pressure gauge, and drove around until the problem started. The truck should be running between 48 to 56 lbs. of fuel pressure. Mine ran at idle at 42lbs. , not even high enough. Drove it for about 20 minutes, and it started to stumble. Fuel pressure dropped to 30lbs, 20 lbs - then all the way down to 2lbs. I shut it off, and it would not start back up. 30 seconds later, I turned the key and it came up to 10lbs. press. 10 more seconds 20lbs. After almost a minute, it came up to 42 lbs. started and I drove away. I replaced the fuel pump assemb. on 7/3/2008. Drove it around, and the problem is gone. Mine is a flex fuel, and the pump retails for $668.00. I did find a AC Delco pump for $221.00. I hope this helps.

You need to check the Ignition System. Plugs, Wires, Dist. Cap. If these are Ok, You Probably need to Check the Fuel Pump and Filter. Let me Know!
