My truck has been sitting for a few months without being started. The battery is drained. When attempting to jump start it the horn starting honking as soon as it was hooked up with the cables. My remote battery is dead so I can't turn off the panic mode that way. How can I get the horn to stop honking?
You should not jump any vehicle from 1996 on
Is it done all the time & by the pros, yes
That is my opinion & that of all the professional automotive
trade publications I get each month
You fully charge & test a battery & replace if necessary,
before putting it into service or attempting to start a vehicle
Replace the battery in the vehicle & your remote key FOB,
then go from there
I would remove both ends of the battery cables & clean them,
& then do a voltage drop on them once hooked up
Possibly the low battery & module voltage set off the alarm
First use a battery charger to charge the battery, instead of a jump start. Second, with a complete dead battery you may want to pull the connection for the horn under the hood till the battery is completely charged.

first of all is the key chipped.if so there is a small round coil around the ignition which reads the code off the chip in the key.replace this reader coil and see will it start.the alarm if u open the bonnet will the alarm stop buzzing if it does dissconnect the bonnet switch on the slam panel above one of the headlights.

turning over is synonymous with *cranking*..so i am confused...if it cranks the battery is fine.. the issue is somewhere else..an isolator charges the primary battery to full then charges the aux battery...only the primary is used to start the vehicle in most cases

most likley the positive wire has corroded off the starter. look at the small red wire more closely, if theres alot of corosion, replace the wire (and starter if needed) if you dont see much corrosion give the wire a good tug just to see if it really is hooked up well. you should disconnect the batt. before doing any of this.hope this helps and good luck
SOURCE: my car radio stopped working
It takes a nano second to ruin today's electronics. I'd check the fuse for the radio before hitting tha panic button. You may be lucky and only blew the fuse If you are prone to leaving stuff on, I suggest at least once a month you should put your battery on a charger...The alternator can never completely charge a battery...it's designed to maintain the state of charge...not re-charge. This shortens battery life and overworks the alternator. Hope it's only a fuse and if it is a radio, be glad you didn't do more...I've seen everything including the computer get fried!!

got to Autozone and get a new battery for your transmitter, Or if you have a keyless entry. Close all of the doors use your code to lock the doors then use the code to unlock thim it should reset the alarm.
