Adjust timing on acura 2.5tl

1) Remove cooling fans for access. Remove accessory belts. Release PS hose clamp which is also in the way.
2) Break crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer bolt and remove pulley (inspect closely for any defects or loosness between outer pulley and inner section). This can be difficult. I use a Honda restraint tool and 1/2" breaker bar jammed against drivers side frame to hold the engine, and 19-mm deep impact socket, 1/2"-breaker bar, and 3-ft cheater pipe over breaker bar to gain leverage. This works good. Air impact is an option only if you remove the radiator for horizontal access room. Not worth all the trouble.
3) Remove upper and lower TB covers
4) Replace TB, water pump, and idlers.
5) Reverse to close. Torque crankshaft pulley bolt to spec.

Can't undo nut on timing belt pully on 1986 gemini, Tried using starter motor while resting socket bar on solid support, no good, any suggestions

First, don't hold bar on cog as you will damage those and ruin it. Using the starter is a good way to damage starter or flywheel.

Soak the bolt with PB Blaster or WD40 and let is soak for a day. Use a large impact gun (3/4 or 1") with plenty of air flow and pressure.
If that does not work, then use a torch to heat the bolt head (not red hot or anything like that), then strike the bolt head straight on with a brass rod using a heavy hammer (32oz or so). This will break any corrosion that has welded the bolt head to the balancer.
Then use your wrenches again.
If that does not work, then try this: How to remove stuck harmonic balancer bolt

How to get bolt out of hermonicbalance

Generally that bolt is removed using an air-impact wrench. Alternative ways are to wedge something against the flywheel gear to hold it from turning or to drive a pipe into the ground, position the balancer(and car) over the pipe and use a solid (not flex head) breaker bar and deep socket, with the handle placed into the pipe and socket on the bolt, then bump the starter using the key. The engine will break the bolt free. When the job is finished, it's advisable to have someone re-tighten the bolt using an air gun though.

How do i remove the harmonic balancer bolt to replace the timing cocer gasket on a 1999 ford tarus se

If there is no air-compressor and an impact gun to remove the harmonic balancer bolt, then there are two other ways to remove it. Either remove the inspection cover at the bell-housing and use a large flat head screwdriver to wedge between the flex-plate drive gear teeth and the engine block so that the engine is locked-up, and then remove the harmonic balancer bolt with a long breaker bar and a lot of muscle power, or for the more advanced mechanics and only they should attempt this, place a long breaker bar on the harmonic balancer bolt and then brace the breaker bar up against the frame of the vehicle so that when the engine turns over the breaker bar will stop on the vehicle frame, and keep in mind that the crankshaft will turn clockwise or to the right, and when you are looking for some place to brace the breaker bar be sure that nothing else will get in the way or it will be damaged. Be sure that the breaker bar is on the harmonic balancer bolt properly, and place the breaker bar about 1 to 2 inches from the vehicle frame so that when the engine turns the breaker bar will lock up against the vehicle frame, and while holding the breaker bar in place have someone turn the ignition key and give the starter a bump, and be very sure to keep your hand away from where the breaker bar is going to contact the vehicle frame, or your fingers will get smashed by the breaker bar when it turns into the frame so do not attempt this if you are unfamiliar with using hand tools, and the starter should break the harmonic balancer bolt loose easily, so be very sure that your hands are out of the way of getting hurt when the starter motor is used to break the harmonic balancer bolt loose.

How can I stop the crankshaft from turning so I can torque the harmonic balancer bolt in a 1992 Buick Century

The easiest way is to remove the inspection cover at the rear of the engine where the transmission bolts on and slide a screw driver or chisel in the teeth of the ring gear and let it come up on the block. You may need a helper to hold it unless you can find a way to keep it in place while you torque. Hope this helps.

What are you using for a tool? Installers may have used loctite. So a socket and rachet won't do it.You may need an impact gun.
