I don't know what a RVR is but this is the kind of thing you have to pretty much take to a trans shop. One word of caution; do not let them take your trans from the car to figure out what is wrong with it unless you are planning on having them fix it. This is a typical ploy of trans shops. They get your car in and get your approval to pull the trans to check it out. You will not get your car back together unless they rebuild the trans so call around and ask about the price of having the trans rebuilt before you take it anywhere so you have an idea who is going to rip you off so you can avoid them right up front. With that said..... Assuming the transmission is filled with the correct amount of transmission fluid you should know that the major weakness with the the 7th generation Galants (1994-98 Galants) is the auto trans fails. Generally you will see a gradual loss of function. First it will stop going into some gears, then it will not even move the car at all for a short waiting period. In the end it just wont move the car period. Ultimate recourse is to either rebuild the trans or replace with a manual unit from a junk yard. Information on doing a 5 speed swap can be found here: http://www.thegalantcenter.net/showthread.php?t=38309 Infomration on galants in general can be found under the 7g section of http://www.thegalantcenter.net

04 lancer ralliart manual trans, when reverse gear is engaged it ocasionally will only let you reverse for a foot or two and all wheels lock like someone put a wrench in all the spokes. Even going forward...

ask a local mecahnic to have a look ,i suspect a internal fault in the gearbox like the reverse idler catching another gear which is caused by worn selectors but without a drive i couldnt tell you but a local mechanic can

Vibrating Doors

You may need new motor mounts...if they are worn out this would allow additonal vibration from the engine to transfer to the vehicle body & doors . If it is 4WD then also check underneath for the center driveshaft mount. Higher mileage cars tend to have the mounts lose there ability to dampen engine movement upon engagement.

Any shop should be able to push on the brake and engage the transmission in drive or reverse and watch the whole vibration event happen.

Then it becomes a determination of which mounts to replace.
