My park avenue has star bit screws on both sides of the plate lights right at the top of the license plate holder. I just chaged them last week. I do not know what size the bit was and I am not sure your car is the same. My car looks just like the car in the picture just longer and a little bigger.

Having a license plate light out can lead to a fine and possible court date, so it is best to repair that light as soon as possible. There are several causes for the light being out--a blown bulb, faulty wiring or a bad socket. You will learn how to repair each one of these possible causes to your light problem.

Replacing a Blown Bulb

Step 1

Remove the cover over the license plate bulb. Every car differs, but most have a tab that you push in, and it slides right out.

Step 2

Remove the bulb from the socket. Sometimes it is a tight fit so you may need to use a screwdriver to pry the bulb loose.

Step 3

Compare the stamping on the metal part of the old bulb to the new bulb to make certain the new bulb is the correct size and wattage for your vehicle.

Step 4

Place the new bulb in the socket by simply pressing it until it is securely fastened in the socket.

Step 5

Place the cover back over the bulb by simply pressing it into place until it clicks.

Turn your vehicles lights on and check for proper operation.

Tag light is not working. is there a fuse that will get the light turned back on?

The fuse labeled REAR PARK LP 15A in the right instrument panel fuse box powers the rear park lamps, and the tag lamps. If your rear park lamps are working then you most likely need to replace the tag lamps (bulbs). Use the following procedure to replace the lamps.

To Remove:
  1. Remove the two mounting screws from the license plate lamp.
  2. Remove the license plate lamp from the rear bumper fascia.
  3. Remove the license plate lamp socket by turning it counterclockwise.
To Install:
  1. Install the license plate lamp socket by turning it clockwise.
  2. Position the license plate lamp to the rear bumper fascia.

Burned out license plate bulb

open trunk,

remove felt liner from rear of trunk, (liner directly behind rear lights in side trunk) should be 4 plastic Phillips head screws. Loosing screws, then slowly peel liner away. You will see 3 nuts on each side, removing these nuts will loosing the rear light lenses, so you can pull the lense away from the body from the out side to gain access to the license plate bulbs. Re-install in reverse order. While in there I would recommend replacing your brake light and reverse light bulb. Hey your already in there might as well do a little preventive maintance.
