Why does my traction control light on the dashpanel randomly come on and then my dashpanel goes haywire?
The ABS light next to it comes on as well. The stereo and navigation also shuts down and sometimes the engine will die. All the panel indicators shut down. Does this randomly while driving down the road.
Re: Why does my traction control light on the dashpanel...
Sounds like a loose ground somewhere . I would recommend you take it to the dealer, there may be bulletin for this issue or a veteran tech may have come across this problem before.

well while putting the car on the lift, traction control does not need to be disabled, and will not cause the abs/traction light to illuminate, these cars are known to have terrible wheel speed sensors that are brittle and tend to brake or malfunction for no apperent reason, and the wheel speed sensors are what control your abs and traction conrol units and they are normally what make the light come on on your dash, the warranty on the sensors was prolonged for that reason, so depending on the mileage of your car they might be covered, hope this helps
the abs warning light also works with the electronic traction control, (or traction control, same system, different names) and when icy, stops the wheels from spinning, above about 15 mph.(the abs dont work under 5mph) so if im right regarding your question, your car is doing what its supposed to,stopping the driving wheels from spinning/locking up.the warning light comes on when one or the other is doing its job.(working).the trick is to drive so that the warning light doesnt come on..... boring.
Hello there: There is a abs wheel sensor that is on the hubs on these vehicals that should be changed if the light that you are getting comes and goes this happens when the signal from the sensor to the abs system has been interupted you can take it to autozone and have them clear the code for you till you can get this repaired these sensors can cost around 150 to replace ok
Traction control and anti-locks(ABS) lights come on there is sensors that are pluged in behind the rotors check and see if they are disconected or loose sometimes when you change your brake pads they might come loose and not making contact.
If brake pedal is chattering or pulsating it is most likely because you need either front or rear rotors, or both. They are rusted or out of round. If there is something wrong with either your abs or traction control, the abs or traction control light will come on & stay on. As soon as these lights come on, it automatically disables abs or traction control. If you would like to take out fuse that disables abs or traction control circuits, it will leave the lights on.You just wont have their functions. If by some strange condition your chattering goes away, then there is indeed something wrong with your abs or traction control.Fuses are labeled abs or traction either under hood or in your fuse panel in car.
with traction control set up cars abs and tranction control sensors are in the wheel bearings when a wheel bearing goes out grinding will come from front wheels and will ruin abs and traction control sensors causing the malfunction. Most likely by your description this will be it.
hi hope i can help the traction control is controled by signals from the abs system if you lose a sensor imput the abs light will also come it looks like you have a sensor on the blink hope you find this helpful if so please give it a rating thanks pete
The traction control system uses the abs wheel sensors to detect wheel speed if the abs light is on the entire abs system will disable giving you regular braking but it will also stop feeding info to the traction control
