That is the first thing to check. The crrank sensor controls the ignition and if it is bad, there is no signal to send the spark.

Can I put a 1997 3.8 non supercharged motor in a 1994 buick park avenue that had a non supercharged 3.8 motor in it

No. While the engine would probably bolt right in, there are two entirely different engine control systems for the two models. The '97 engine has OBD-II controls- more and different sensors and controllers, while the '94 engine has the less sophisticated OBD-1 system. They are not interchangeable. An engine from a '94 or '95 park avenue is your best choice. Any from 1996 onward is OBD-II (On Board Diagnostics, second generation).

My car wont turn over or crank.

Could be just dirty battery post connections...can you jump start? Do the lights come on? If yes, the terminals are dirty corroded and will not allow enough current to turn the 3800 motor over. Hope this helps.

It is probably a noisy wrist pin on one cylinder,

We want to put a 1992 Park Ave 3800 motor into a 1999 Pk AV 3800. Is that posssible

the motor may bolt up - the fuel line connections - throttle body wire connections and other wire connections will probably not connect - the main difference is on the top side from heads up on the 2 motors - the design change was for 1996 cars

1991 BUICK PARK AVE. 3800 SERIES

I would seriously have a cat put back on you need that back pressure and have the O2 sensors replaced. Sounds like it may be time for a major tune up
