If you go to a Nissan dealership, you can have your key reprogrammed. When they reprogram your key, it will render the lost key useless since it was not present while programming.
take your vin number to a nissan dealer with the title or proof of ownership and they will cut you a key. you do not need car fax nissan will have all of that information.
If you call your dealership with your VIN and can show proof(sometimes it is required)of ownership, they can sometimes order you a replacement key based on that.
To manually check air bag codes, turn the key On and push the driver's door switch (at the bottom of the B-pillar) 5 times or more within 7 seconds of turning the key ON. Then watch the air bag light flashing codes. The air bag light will come ON for 3 seconds and then give fast flashes if there is a code. Count the fast flashes as the code. So the air bag light on for 3 seconds and then 8 flashes is a code 8 for the passenger air bag circuit. after counting code
clear codes and see if they come back
1999 Nissan Maxima, car was running shut it off, now won't start, replaced crank sensors, cam sensor, mass air flow, and fuel pump. The security light stays on when cranking, is it possible that the key could be no good, or is their another problem
The dealership can cut you a new one based on the code if you provide the VIN number to the car, and your title/registration/photo ID (so you can prove you own the car and that you are who you say you are).
