I just worked on 98 expedition 5.4l had code PO354. This code refer to an open primary coil winding, open wire, or bad PCM.
Check primary winding with ohm meter should be from 0.5 to 1.5 ohms and about 2.5 ohms with a hot engine. check wiring with a noid light, run the engine and shake the harness if light goes out repair harness you should have battery voltage with key on the computer controls the ground side.

SOURCE: Why is my 1997 expedition showing a misfire on

PO302 is being a misfire, could mean the plug is bad or the coil is bad for that cylinder. Which can give you the misfire reading and the system to lean codes. Check the #2 coil for firing.

SOURCE: my 2003 ford expedition reads a code 305 cylinder

It sounds like a bad injector. Swap injector with another cylinder and see if code changes.

What would cause a misfire of #1 cylinder on 2000 ford expedition 5.4 liter engine?

these have a problem with coil packs and ignition wires. check the plug it may need replacing, but change all the plugs not just the one. you could have a dirty or a bad injector for that cylinder or even a vacuum leak at the intake for that cylinder. something else is you could have poor compression on that cylinder.

Test revealed cylinder 5 is missing on my 98 expedition

You have a bad COP Ignition Coil or several

They only misfire whenever they feel like it

If you had professional software --you could road test in
Mode #06 & look at cylinder misfire counts

You need to buy a couple of coils & try in cylinder #5,
front one drivers side

If that isn't the correct one or you have several, walk the
other new coil to get to the bad ones

Disregard any other stray codes until the coil issues are

If it stays on your have Class B misfire
If it flashes you have a Class A misfire that could
damage the exhaust converter

When i go up a hill or go over 40 the service engine light blinks on and when i let off the gas it shuts off. what could be the problem?

it has what they call a loaded need a coil assy for that particular cylinder...have it scanned and it will most shurley have a misfire code..note the cylinder and relace that coil..the code will read as a cylinder number misfire code..for instance P0302 will mean cyl # 2 and so on...a flashing dtc diagnostic trouble code will always indicate a misfire.

Misfires under acceleration

Try to determine if a particular cylinder or cylinders are misfiring. If it is definitely a certain cylinder, look for a bad coil pack on plug bad and replace as indicated by the misfire codes found in the computer.

I would be surprised that the misfire was not detected by the computer if you feel it happening.

Good luck on this repair.

I have a 2000 model expedition and the codes po174 and po171 are popping up, along with po301 and po306 showing misfire. How can I fix that?

P0174/0171 are bank 1-2 running lean (insufficient fuel) which is related to the misfire codes. When there is a misfire detected, the computer shuts fuel to those cylinders triggering "too lean" codes. These vehicles are known for ignition coil failures. I'd recommend you replace all ignition coils (qty of 8) as they do have a short life span. Replace with another brand (not motorcraft/Ford), such as MSD/Accell/BOSH etc. hopefully this helpd!!

Cylinder three misfire? im driving then all the sudden my truck starts making this funny nose i get home and check the code p0303 and it says "Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected" how do i fix this?

I had the same problem but on cylinder 8. The solution was that you need to replace the coil pack on that cylinder and then it will run fine.
