it's the slave cylinder, right on front of engine and you can see it move when engaging clutch. Cost me about $15 @ schucks

SOURCE: Car stops moving in reverse gear

Sounds like the car is just slipping out of gear. Keep your hand on the shifter when you back up next time. See if you can feel the shifter move when the car comes out of gear. If the shifter moves up when it happens keep pressure on the shifter holding it back like you dont want it to move forward. And of course if the shifter moves back when it comes out of gear, put forward pressure on the shifter so it doesnt slip out. This might work for now but but i know i wouldnt want to spen 700 for that ****. Let me know how it goes.

SOURCE: honda prelude code 16 trans

I took a look around online & found a website.
Per site says Code 16 is a Fuel Injector & 23 is a Knock Sensor.

These codes and page references pertain to the Helm Service Manual. You can obtain a helm manual from Helm Inc.

I have a 1998 honda prelude h22 vetc automatic with 178K the motor runs fine but the transmisson when i put it in reverse i knocks the it will do fine threw first kinda slip in second and then not go into...

Definitely change the transmission oil - could be some rubbish in there stopping the actuators working correctly. If that doesn't work, could be time for rebuild with new friction material in the clutches.

You need to check the tcm for codes too. The s3 light is like the check engine light for the tcm. The VSS code might be your problem.

the trans will actually bolt up to the engine..but it will not work properly without the pressure switch plugged in to the harness... if u notice, there is a hole with no threads in the prelude trans..u couldnt even thread a 3rd gear pressure switch in the trans case..trust me ive seen it b4 at the dealer where i work.. i even went as far as installing the trans and when going back together, saw the difference when trying to plug the harness in...its not the same..i laugh about it now, but was very mad at myself at the time for assumeing the parts guy brought me the right part..the guy with the prelude was about to install my accord  trans in his prelude ...luckily i was able to stop him b4 he installed my trans in his prelude...i laugh about it now

1992 honda prelude transmission wont go into gear

Sounds like the pressure plate! Try this, rev the engine for a sec then when it starts to slows down try to put it in reverse - if the gears grind, its the pressure plate which will come with the clutch kit for about 125-175.00.

1988 honda prelude S

No quick fixes, once it slip the transmission is pretty well done due to damage to the clutch packs, pull the pan and see how much debris is in there, if it is allot then an overhaul is needed, I would suggest that all the shift solenoids be replaced during the fix, also make sure th connector to the tran is in good condition, no loose pins or damaged connector locks.
