How do I repair oil leak from the distributor on my Diahutsu FERROZIA @ 4X4

SOURCE: 2000 ford f250 super duty 4x4 7.3L diesel oil leak

The HPOP (high pressure oil pump) is right under the filter housing. There are 2 lines that distribute the oil to the cylinder heads. The o-rings on those fittings go out. Kit is available from Ford or International. You will need a special wrench to get to the fittings though.

ok if the oil is coming out of the distributor it has to be taken right out and marked to go back in the correct spot there is a rubber o ring on the shaft of it.

SOURCE: 1990 HONDA ACCORD DISTRIBUTOR LEAKING OIL INTERNALLY

Lease check and make sure that you replace with the right seal, that alone should have taken care of this problem. However if the valve cover gasket is loose or bad it will cause oil to leak around distributor are but NOT into distributor. This seal can be easily replaced by loosing 4 10mm bolts on top of valve cover. Contact if you need more help Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

Is it leaking arond it? Replace oring seal. Is it leaking from where the cap seals the the distributor? Replace the distributor.

Here is the oil leaking Problem Identifying Technique

Engine oil leaks from the valve cover gasket are common.

  • The intake manifold plenum gasket may leak and cause increased oil consumption/burning and a spark knock during acceleration; the gasket should be replaced.
  • External oil leaks from valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets (front or rear), and the rear crankshaft (rear main) seal area are common. The rear main seal is an unlikely source. Normally, the bearing cap mating surfaces (as well as the sealing surface between the oil pan and bearing cap) are the source for the leaks.
  • Engine oil leaks at the distributor can be misdiagnosed as leaks from theintake manifold seal, oil pan gasket, or rear crankshaft (rear main) seal. A revised distributor is available if oil is found inside the distributor.
  • If the oil filter casing shows signs of distortion from excessive oil pressure, theoil pump should be replaced.
  • Often misdiagnosed as a leaking oil filter gasket, the oil filter adapter can seep from between the adapter and engine block.
  • Carbon buildup on the top of the piston is common. As the buildup increases with mileage and over time, symptoms may vary from light ticking, to ticking/hammering, to hammering/knocking noises. Fuel injector cleaner often solves the problem.

    You don't say what engine it has. The 4-cyl was a better than the V6 for oil leaks.

    The V6 had oil leaks from

    -rear bank cam cover gasket

    -distributor o-ring seal

    -oil filter bracket o-ring seal

    -crankshaft nose oil seal (less common)

    -rear main bearing oil seal (expensive, just leave it)

    The 4 cyl leaked oil from

    -distributor o-ring seal

    -camshaft cover gasket

    -rear main bearing seal (expensive, leave it)

    Oil leak in front of engine around the distributor. top of engine
    Its either the valve cover gasket or the o ring that seals the distributor.
    It could be coming from either, so look for oil on the valve cover above
    the distributor. If you see oil there its the valve cover.
    If you dont see oil coming from the valve cover above the distributor, then look or touch
    the bottom of the distributor and if there is oil there then the distributor oring is
    whats leaking.

    Oil leak, where could it be
    the most common oil leak on the V6 is the oil pump drive gear, it is at the back of the engine under the throttle body, it is were if the engine had a distributor were you would look for the distributor, there is an o-ring on the gear housing that starts to leak and can make a very big leak because the housing is under direct oil pump pressure.

    The distributor cap leaks oil. how can i repair it? do i have to remove the housing? i'm not sure but i do work on the car myself.
    I believe the cap is not leaking but the oil is leaking from where the distributor shaft goes in the head assembly. on the shaft there is a rubber seal that gets brittle over the time and gets cracked and eventually leaks. The seal is usually not very expensive but you will have to remove the distributor assembly and take it to the local parts store and have them match it. Be sure to look up your firing order and also mark the distributor to the respective cylinder.

    Oil leaking from underneath owner was told distributor was leaking?? oil pan gasket already replaced distributor/ sounds fishy ? what do you think
    There is a seal on the distributor shaft. It could be leaking from there, although I would think it would be a slow leak. There is really no easy way but to clean off the engine with Gunk, etc and hose it off and clean it up and look for the source of the leak. You can take it in and they make a dye to put in the oil and use a black light, but that will cost you.

    Oil leak
    Pull the distributor out & examine the o-ring that is at the base of the dist where it slides into the cyl head. If the o-ring is compromised, oil will leak there.
