Replacing catalytic converter on a 2002 Honda Odyssey

Need to replace catalytic converter on a 2002 Honda Odyssey. Should I also replace the O2 sensors at the same time? If so how many are there and where are they? Also when replacing the Cat do I need to replace the gaskets?

Hi how u doing, my car honda odyssey 1999 has check engine light on code number p0132 i replaced the o2 sensors 3 times already what do u think i need to do

Hello Hazem Hammad,

Check out the exhaust system...

You might have a catalytic converter or muffler
blocking the OUT-FLOW.

Unless you are into DIRTY jobs... and LIQUID WRENCH...
Consider your local friendly muffler shop...

JUST MAKE SURE you know your
PRICES BEFORE going in...

A wee bit of dirt can save A BUNCH of money
(if you don't drop the car on yourself).

Choose wisely... be safe!!

Replace O2 sensor 2003 Honda Odyssey

Usually 1 in each exhaust manifold and 1 behind each catalytic converter. A special socket is needed to remove them/install them without damaging them.

My catalytic converter on honda odyssey is broken, is it possible cause on shifting for transmission problem

You can incur major engine damage if you don't get your catalytic replaced first. Afterward you can troubleshoot your transmission problem if you still have it.

2003 Honda Odyssey: Mechanics cannot get engine light and TSC off. Air-fuel mixture problem. Sensors have all been replaced; O2, MAP, EGR, etc. On my 8th visit.

Have they tried the catalytic converter? The sensors may be working properly and telling the computer the converter is not doing it's job properly.

Check engine code p0137

P0137 - Oxygen (o2) sensor circuit low voltage (Bank 1 sensor 2)
If you have more than one (1) sensor on Bank 1 then it will be the rear sensor. Change the o2 sensor. You may also want to check the following:
  • Repair exhaust leak near the rear sensor (if leak is found)
  • Check for restriction in catalyst and replace as necessary
  • Repair short, open, or high resistance on o2 signal circuit

  • Most likely you will just need to replace the sensor. Hope this helps you.

What is bank 1 o2 sensor in honda odyssey 2005 ? FRONT OR REAR ?

O2 Bank 1 sensor is before the catalytic converter, is located just behind where the exhaust pipes from the front bank of cylinders and rear bank of cylinders join up.

The other sensor goes into the side of the catalytic converter, it is bank 1 sensor 2.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

I need to replace a 2000 Honda Odyssey van catalytic converter. How hard is it for layperson to do this? Thanks, Dan

not hard at all, many people have had O2 sensor problems if they have installed an aftermarket Cat ( Not Honda ) get new bolts and you should be done in under an hour.
