Had front and rear struts replaced on my ford five hundred AWD and think I may need to replace the springs. The rear is still hanging low
SOURCE: struct replacement. Do I need to use a spring compressor?
any strut you need to compress the spring before you crack that top center bolt its potentially dangerous dummies been hospitalized from flying springs get a good compress not super squeezed get the resistance off the nut just a half inch gap then take off spring load spring and when you load look at the bottom of the spring has a cut on the coil seat it right the coil sits the cut end on the bottom seat ....
SOURCE: how do i get a broken pich bolt out of my rear spring so i can replace it, drilling is not working
1. You can replace the spindle = Expensive
2. You can use a small drill bit (cobalt) and drill though enough to use an extractor to remove the offending piece.
Suggestions to help might be to use a little PB Blaster and or heat on the bolt before trying to remove the offending piece before you attempt to remove it with an extractor. Take your time as you will most likely get only one chance to get it out.
Extractor sets are pretty cheap at Harbor Freight if you have one near you. You can insert the extractor from either side in the bolt hole.

either put a jack under the strut (if you can do so safely and raise the strut or use a good pry bar to pull down on the A arm. make 100% sure the car is well supported with jack stands etc.
