Clutch assembly, or master, or slave. If anyone knows about these issues with a 96 Pontiac Sunfire, it would really help. I cant afford to have it in the shop.

Check clutch fluid, refill, bring to a service station, sounds like you are leaking fluid.

Your losing fluid somewhere, it is a hydraulic clutch so this means hydraulic fluid powers it. Bring to transmission shop for repair.

1999 pontiac sunfire clutch pedal stays down

The hydraulic clutch works much like the brake system, there is a master cylinder with a piston and spring that should keep the pedal up.
You may have to take the clutch master cyl off and inspect the internal parts.

does your car have a hydraulic clutch
just had similar problem on my Jeep had to replace the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder.
you can bleed some clutch master cylinders removing air in system check fluid level full then bleed master cylinder keeping an eye on fluid levels not to run system dry..

Clutch not engaging on 2000 cougar

The master cylinder or the slave cylinder have failed. I would check for a clear oil looking leak coming from either the firewall/above the clutch pedal or under the transmission. Either way you would need to replace the master or slave cylinder. Hope this helps!

I have a 96 sunfire & the clutch when depressed stayed depressed down to the floor! Do I have cheap options to fix it or what??

See if the pedal, itself isn't sticking. Next, see if your pedal operates a cable, linkage, or if it is hydraulic and uses a brake line.
(It sounds like a cable is broken)
