Just purchased a 2002 Mercury Sable LS. It did not come with a manual or any information on the 5 digit entry code to open the drivers door without a key. How can I find the code?

With your owners manual,in the grey folder,is a white card with the factory, door entry code, and instructions to put your own code, in the keyless entry keypad
Ok there are 2 ways to retrieve the key-less entry code. First and easiest way is to carry it to a shop that has a scan tool that can read pid data from the driver's door module .They can pull up that pid and display your code right on the screen.
The second and hardest method is to remove the driver's door panel to access the driver's door module and there will be a tag on it with the 5 digit code.
Yes you can program your own code into it however you must have the original code .Input the original code then hit the number 2 button then put in your own 5 digit code. This code will remain until you disconnect the battery or battery goes dead then it reverts back to the original.
You can also go to this website and download your owners manual for free. Just pick owner guide in the left task bar and input your vehicle information.
without a fault code its impossible to diagnose. try pep boys or aamco or auto zone they will pull the code for you, usually for free. The code will relate to a sensor or area to be fixed. This will save you money and needless parts . post the code or codes so we can help
Doubt its a fuse. Most likely the key pad has failed and needs to be replaced. On the bright side this is a good problem to have and you have a very reliable car.
The keyless entry module is located in the rear of the vehicle on the driver's side. You will need to partially remove the left rear panel in the cargo area. You will then see the keyless entry module bolted behind a metal reinforcement bar. There is a sticker on the module that has the 5 digit entry code.
