It could be a sensor, fuse, relay, transmission service issue or the ecu. It means the torque converter is not locking when the car moves. Get the fluid checked asap. If its discolored or burnt get the fluid and filter changed. Next to a relay or fuse which are very rare causes the transmission service is the cheapest option in fixing the problem. But try not to drive for too long while this is going on, it like all fluids in a car can and will cause permanent damage and can lead to extremely expensive repair costs in the future. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: The transaxle light came on my 2000 Ford Taurus,

no video but I recommend you to atleast take it to a shop, one that does free estimates if possible, and ask them to look at it. The problem coould be as simple as a fuse or relay for the transmission control module to much more in depth as a problem inside the transmission.

SOURCE: 2005-2006 model Ford Taurus...has orange warning

This is the check/service engine light. They will go off when the computer senses a fault such as bad sensor or bad electrical circuit. Most part stores will test the car by running an engine code diagnostic scan which will pinpoint exact problem area. Most shops charge $40 which is well worth it.

Transaxle light flashing

The warning light is on because the electronic control module for the system has detected a problem. What must be done now is to have a trained tech with special tools scan the system and see what fault codes are stored that set when the computer turned on the warning got the Transaxle

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus and there is a blinking yellow light that looks exactly like a exclamation mark and it blinks and remain until car is cut off.

That is the transaxle i.e. transmission warning light. First step is to check the fluid level. Follow instructions on the dipstick. If fluid is ok, and light is still on, have someone pull the computer codes. Most parts stores can do this, usually for free. However, a Ford dealer or good transmission shop can tell you exactly why the light is on, but they will charge you for that.

I have a 2003 Ford Windstar with 65k miles and the trans went out with no warning. It drove fine

That is perfectly normal for that vehicle

That issue has been their for years ,going
back to previous model whatever that was called

Not many van type vehicles have transaxles that last
or make 100,000 miles

The history on the ford taurus is about 65,000
& that is a half decent transaxle & that goes back
25 years

2002 taurus, exclamation mark with circle on dash, car will not run

I believe that is the check transaxle light. Illuminates when a transaxle problem has been detected and shifting may be restricted. If this lamp remains on, have your vehicle serviced immediately. Does the car start? Turn over?

What does the symbol that looks like an explanation mark mean?

Hi,

The flashing yellow exclamation light on a 2001 ford taurus is the "check transaxle light," and it's to alert you that your transmission has issues that need to be addressed asap.

From my vast and past experience, if the issue is serious, the transaxle (transmission) is probably going to lock into second gear at some point for safety purposes.

As fate would have it, there is no real middle ground for repair of these problems. When transaxle issues occur on these vehicles, 99% of all remedies from dealers or tranny shops would require removal of the transaxle to perform the repair. That process (dismembering front end components, supporting engine, etc.) is very expensive. Having gone that far, most fixers would (rightly) recommend a rebuild kit and replacement of "hard parts" while the tranny's on the work bench anyway.

Good luck!!

On my ford taurus a light with the car and bolt on the side.

If you mean this warning light 5d07d41.png
then that means the fuel cap is loose. Tighten it 3 clicks. You really should get yourself an owner's manual. Go here where you can download your manual in PDF format. https://www.flmowner.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage

Light like an exclamation point keeps flashing on the dash

It's a warning to "Check Transaxle". A problem was detected and shifting may be limited. Get it looked at soon.
