Main window doesnt open or close - 2008 Audi A3 S Line Hatchback

You need to do a window reset. Its in your owners manual

? A driver side window will not fully close automatically under following the conditions:
? The battery has been disconnected during vehicle maintenance or for other reasons.
? The power window main switch connector, or driver-side power window motor connector has been
disconnected.
? Carry out the following procedure to resume operation:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Press the driver side power window main switch and fully open the driver side window.
3. Pull up the driver side power window main switch to manual-up position to fully close the driver side window,
and keep holding the switch up at the position for about 2 seconds to complete initial setting.

TWO-STEP DOWN FUNCTION OPERATIVE/NON-OPERATIVE SWITCHING PROCEDURE

? By following the procedure below, the two-step down function is switched to non-operative when it is
operative, and to operative when it is non-operative.

Turn the Ignition on
Within 5 sec
perform the auto open two times
perform the auto close two times

turn the ignition off and within 40 seconds and repeat the above sequence.

Repeat for all the windows.

try to close or open the window from the main switch.If it works then you have the rear door window button. If it still not working either from main,then you have to check the window regulator in the rear door.

first take main battery cable out for one houre and return it back if there fine so its oke if not do below steps plz
set in car and close or glasses 1st- open ur window full auto and close it auto 2st-open passenger full auto down and full auto up 3st-open ur back window full auto down and then full auto up 4st-open rear window of passenger full auto down and full auto up

dis-connect your battery for 30 seconds to do a switch reset on your window, when you reconnect the batt your window will go down, open and close rear door to check lock functions ok first. close rear door and using key or switch inside car close window fully with out stopping, this should reset the window.

there is most likely a button sensor that is stuck - if you don't open the door much - that will do it - try spraying WD40 on the door components along the door edge where the latch is - also try wd40 on the latch inside the door -- open and close it say 35 times and after 10 or so it should work - but still keep on til 35 - then do that 10 times a month -

No doubt your soft top issue has long been resolved but just in case someone has a similar issue:
I started to open my A4 Soft top externally using the door key method and like an idiot I must have disengaged the key before the soft top was fully down. I was unable to activate the opening or closing of the soft top automatically using either the key or soft top switch inside. I then manually closed the soft top using the users handbook and manual tool supplied. Soft top would still Not open automatically and the soft top alarm would activate. I solved the issue by manually opening the soft top fully and then manually closing the soft top fully. This seemed to have reset whatever had gone askew.

ok umm.. if it doesnt open why would you have to close it in the first place? and if it doesnt close why would you have to open it? lay off the booze. lol

Check the fuse in the car it may be blown , if its fine then power switch board may be defective ..

if there are no broken wires inside the tailgate try lubing the latches with WD40 and open and close the tailgate several times. If the latches are properly closed on both sides the window will not work

Yes get another mechanic to fix it and give this numpty who broke it the bill why should you pull out money for some one elses mistake
