I have 97 regency and a few days ago it stop cranking, when i turned the switch, there was no sound what so ever,so thinking it was the starter i took it off and took it to advance auto so they could check it, they said it was bad so i got a new one and put it in and still nothing, the battery is good and i checked all the fuses but the wire going into the cellinoid has no fire, any ideas would be great

Check fusable links in your battery cable and starter wires. Do you have power at the starter where the positive cable attaches? Your battery is good? Do you have any power anywhere else?

So you are saying you don't have power at the starter? Then check the fusable links on the cables and wires to the starter. They are the fat part on the wire. You might have power on one side of the link, and not the other. The fusable link in the wire is burnt.

My 1997 regency want start at times all the lights come on but the engine wont start up, and when i turn the key, there is no sound, then, sometimes it will start, I had it put on a codeing machine and it...

If the engine does not crank, and assuming the battery is charged and the security light is not on, the three most common problems are a faulty starter, neutral safety switch, or key switch.
You would need to know if the starter has battery voltage when the key is in the start position the next time it will not crank.

2000 olds alero cranks then makes a metal grinding sound and won't start

You need to have your flywheel: replaced.Your starter motor engages against the fly wheel at the back of the motor. Every time your motor stops it tends to be in the same few positions (just the way things work) so there is more stress on some parts of your fly wheel than others. Because of this the teeth wear out on the fly wheel which means the starter can correctly engage on the fly wheel which is the grinding noise.

1989 Oldsmobile Regency 88 - stalls and sputters

Hi All your love, Lucky boy, The vehicle is fairly old and I suspect it has a points and condenser ignition system. Renew the points and replace the condenser. Set the gap to .45 mm and then set up the firing position by loosening the distributor locking base and setting it at 6 degrees before top dead center. I think it is not a fuel problem but instead, ignition timing. Regards John

1995 oldsmobil 98 regency the car stalls out and won't start

It sounds like the neutral safty switch needs replacing. It is located on the transmission. My daughter had this problem and it seemed to stall-out at intersections, I worked in a Transmission Shop for years (office and parts dept.) I picked-up a few ideas of how to fix things there !

Car won't start

With a 12 volt test light and an assistant, check for a signal to (S) terminal on starter solenoid. If ok, check all connections at starter for clean and tight. If still no crank, replace starter. If no signal to (S) terminal, suspect ignition or neutral saftey switch.
