The OP asked how to replace the camshaft oil seal. The suggested answer talked about replacing the timing belt, which is part of the procedure, but not the seal. My auto parts store suggested a thorough cleaning with carb cleaner and then using high tack adhesive or gasket sealant to make sure the seal stays put. I would also like a rundown on R&R of the seal.
Replace the timing belt. Remove the head and replace the bent valves. While you are at it replace the cam shaft oil seals and the crank shaft oil seal and the idler pulley and hydraulic adjuster and the job will last another 100.000 miles
May have to add some blue rtv to the seal, allowing to dry before assembling, but this seal, depending on whether metal rotates or moves around it, may need to have the adjacent parts replaced with new metal parts to make the oem or aftermarket seal work right.
Unfortunately, the metal may have a defect in it causing the camshaft seal to leak.
a favourite source of oil leak on these engines is the seal in the oil filler cap also check breather system is clear camshaft seals are a big job look at easey options first that is my advise
check your PCV system, if the crankcase is pressurized, its pushing the seals out. either the PCV valve is bad, plugged, passages plugged or the engine is worn out and the PCV system cannot vent the pressure out enough,
1.Install the camshaft after lubricating the journal of the camshaft with engine oil.2.Install the camshaft bearing caps. 3.Install the ignition coil.4.Install the rocker arm and rocker arm shaft.Refer to "Rocker Arms and Rocker Arm Shafts" section.5.Using special tools, Camshaft Oil Seal Installer (09221-21000), press fit the camshaft oil seal. Be sure to apply engine oil to the external surface of the oil seal.Insert the oil seal along the camshaft front end and install by driving the installer with a hammer until the oil seal is pulley seated.6.Install the camshaft sprocket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
