SOURCE: Range Rover 1990 abs pump

Ok, your light WILL go out, and go back to normal once repaired, so don't fret.

Unless the pump was really loud (bad internals), you likely burned up the pressure switch (green thing on end of pump), which can be purchased in LA, USA; or through me, GreenDog Oregon (store name on Ebay US). These go out due to the pump running for an extended peroid of time, overheating the entire assembly, and allowing moisture into the pressure switch (Yes, they do go bad, and I have pictures of the inside of a bad one, full of brown muck). The reason this happens is bacause the nitrogen charge in the ABS accumulator (ball like canister attached to pump) has a limited life-span, and goes bad after about 7 years (Rave 2003). This means that the pump must run more often to accomidate braking, as it has no assist.

So, you can replace the Accumulator, and the pressure switch, and will likely be back in commission, after a proper bleeding, of course (directions for proper bleeding in Rave 2003 -CD available on ebay for appx $5)

Or, you could just replace the entire assy with a nkown good used part, and since the switch on the used part will likely be good, you can then just replace the ABS accumulator. The pressure switch is very hard to find, but I do have a couple of sources, here on the West Coast.

If you need further assistance or need a pressure switch (or parts), contact me through my ebay store, GreenDog Oregon. If you have trouble finding my store, just look for P38 and Classic parts, I'll be near the top of the store listings, as my prices are low, due to the low cost of rovers in the NW.

SOURCE: Air suspension inactive, HDC inactive, ABS light on, Range Rover

Air Suspension Inactive usually means there is a problem with the Air Suspension. However, it will also come up when alternator or battery voltage is low, or when you reset (disconnect and then connect) the battery. To reset it manually: while in P(ark), turn steering wheel all the way left, hold few seconds, and then all the way right, hold few seconds. All the warning lights will go out. Most common failure is the passenger front air strut, since batteries are prone to leaking acid, it leaks right on top of the rubber airbag and burns through it. Dealer willcharge you one hour to diagnose, or you can easily diagnose this by looking at the ride height of each particular corner of the truck. If its sits low, or emits hissing sound when you park the truck, its leaking. If you keep driving with leaky air strut, you risk burning up the air compressor, as its working extra hard to compensate for the leak. Replacing the strut is easy 45min job even for a novice mechanic, and you can do it yourself. Strut can be found new for approx $750 online. If you are fed up with air suspension issues, there is a $700 kit that converts the truck to springs, and disables all of the air suspension. Look up Arnott Industires

Both brake lights don’t work on my 2008 Range Rover sport. Changed bulbs, replaced LR3. Still nothing. Any ideas?

Have you checked the brake switch on the pedal under the dash? Not experienced with your vehicle, but there has to be something to activate the light when you depress the pedal.

2008 R OFFANGE ROVER SPORT DISPLAY SAYS SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN (HDC FAULT NOT AVAILABLE )HAZARD LIGHT WOULD NOT TURN

HDC relies on the data from the ABS sensors also, so you should check the ABS sensor cables and that the sensors have not been disturbed (the cables run close to the brake wear sensors). I would bet that they have either disturbed or disconnected the ABS sensor or damaged the cable. It could also be a possibility that they disconnected the sensor, ran the vehicle then realized that it was disconnected, but the fault was triggered, and it may be a case of just having to reset the ABS or HDC system to clear the fault. To reset this fault requires Testbook/T4 or a non-oem software/hardware.

I had the brake pad light come on so I changed the pads, now I need to reset the warning message. How?

when changing the brake pads you also need to replace the pad sensor that runs into the left caliper in the front. Or the right caliper in the rear.
