When im driving out of nowhere my o/d light starts blinking on and off and my car starts to act weird like if my transmission is slipping it even looses power and dont want to pass 30 miles
This could be caused by a multitude of things. The maf sensor, need of tuneup, clogged filter in transmission. Hilly roads will cause the car to shift up and down when in overdrive. What is the history of your maintenance on this vehicle. Was it serviced at regular intervals, by an experienced mechanic? Good luck!!! More info. and I should be able to tell you whats going on.

Check the transmission fluid it may be in need of a quart of transmission fluid

is fluid red, does it smell burnt, hav gritty feel-u may need a flush--the trans is partly electronic so keep computer issues in mind--automatics r really complicated and a moving part could be bad-mite test it at a honest shop

Believe it or not I had to replace an alternator in my Lincoln with a digital dash. It had a speedo giving crazy readings too.
You can get a free scan at Autozone or Oreillys to check the Alternator and the rest of your car. It may solve your O/D problems too. There is a speed sensor in some of the rear axles. It could be loose and cause the same problems.

Well since the car engages the gears are probably good. The first thing i would suggest is to change the transmission filter and oil out and see if that makes it go away. If that doesn't work then there is more than likely a problem with your transmission and would be hard to pinpoint if it were just a sensor or something deeper. Wish i could be of more help!

I know is not what you would like to hear around the holidays, but.... a lot of times when the overdrive flashes, there is a mechanical problem, most likely in your case lockup in the torque converter. i would say it would be a good idea to get it to a garage asap, to save yourself from any other damage that will cause you to do a complete rebuild.
