Fan heater controls not lighting up
SOURCE: 2003 Jeep Liberty heater fan problem
It is the blower motor resistor. Look under the passanger side dash and locate the fan housing (looks round and black in color. Then locate the resistor it will be in that housing usually withtwo ten millimeter nuts or two simple screws holding it in. unplug the harness to the resistor and remove the resistor. Part store price is approx. 50.00. Note: on aftermarket (not Jeep) resistor sometimes you have to modify the housing a little to get it in. Hope this helps.

is your heater set on defrost this will cause your engine fan to run because it turns on the compressor for air conditioner this helps to extract moisture from your warm air defrost and the fan in the engine compartment helps keep it the engine cool from the extra load on the engine this is normal

This could be a few other things: try these: (have a diagnostics test done at a local auto parts dealer or mechanic (auto parts dealer will usually do it for free and only takes abotu 10 mintes).
1. O2 sensor(s) : replace
2. temperature gauge sensor
3. oil pressure sensor (regulator)
