You have CV joints in the front also, so it sounds like you have already diagnosed your problem. Go to an auto parts website and look at them. Hope that helps!

Did you ever figure out what the problem is/was. My jeep is doing similar thing. Clunking sound - almost like something is slipping, when turning very sharp.

SOURCE: passenger side axel cv joint

For just a little bit more $ you can buy a complete axle already assembled. If you have Universal joints (not c/v, with boots), then yes they are fairly easy to do but you need to remove the brakes, rotor and hub bearing to get either of them out out. (easy instructions in haynes or chilton)

SOURCE: can you conver front axel u joint type to a cv joint type on an 95 jeep grand charokee lorado

I owned a 93 GC 4x4 and I did replace my front axles with CV joint axles. The new axles came with CV joints, with a rubber boot and all so yes you can.

When taking a corner and turning the steeri ng to the left i am hearing a rattling sound (its not thels velocity ), also when driving through the rough roads.

Take a look (inspect) your CV boots. If one (or both) have split open and allowed the lubricant to excape (which keeps the CV joints lubricated), you may have a damaged CV joint. These joints are normally not replaced. Instead, a remanufactured axel is installed, especially if the joint is already making noise.

When I drive speeds of 60+ and let go of the gas pedeal, there is mild vibration felt in the steering wheel and a bit in the seat. I bought new tires/alignment in July, and got new brake pads in October....

Cv axel or motor mount The CV axel boots should be good with no tears and with thr trie off the ground and the car in park there shlud be no persectable plat between the axel shaft and the tire when rotating the trie by hand untill the transmistion park or in gear stops it. It's OK for the trans to turn a little before the trans stops it but not the axel hold the inner axel CV and turn the tire again and the inner joint should turn with the tire with no play except the trans slack. If this is good check the other axel the same way if one has more than the other just replace the one with more play anf see if you can get away with just one! The replacement axels are less than $100 new and half that for rebuilt after you turn in the core ( old one ). Their strange as they wear out and some last very long and others a shorter period. Many cars go to the junkyard with the axels in them with lots of miles and their the ones that came with the car.

Steering wheel violently shakes.

that is usually caused by bad engine mount this condition usually changes the distance of the cv joint and the differential which cause the cv joint to shake. also check your ball joints.

Need to replace front left cv axel

Best approach is to acquire a repair manual for that vehicle. Pep Boys or similar will likely have one..

Cv axel

you will have to use something to pry it out. Normally a long flat tip screwdriver has always pryed out the stubborn cv axels for me.

Axel Change?

I had the same issue and had it fixed for free based on my warranty. I don't remember the name of the part, but it wasn't the axel. From what I was told, it was a common problem, but not common enough to issue a recall. I recommend talking to a few different Saturn retailers. Good luck.
