Greasing front end components no grease fittings or plugs??

1 Answer

If there is no plug to remove & insert a grease fitting,
then you replace to worn out parts when they fail

Been like that for decades

Keep in mind, vehicles are only made to keep jobs
in north america & the money is only made through leasing
& financing

The car manufactures are in the money making loan business,
not making vehicles for any real reason.

SOURCE: is the any parts to grease on my 2005 escape in

There shouldn't be any tie rods or ball joints to grease, unless they have been replaced. Many aftermarket parts come with grease fittings, including the sway bar links, lower ball joints and outer tie rods.

SOURCE: my truck squeicks alot i was told because it needs

Is the squeaking from the front or the back of the truck?

Do the squeaks happen when going over bumps?

Try pushing down on each of the four corners of the truck a few times and see if one corner is louder than another. This will help to isolate the source of the squeak.

SOURCE: "Greasing" battery posts and clamps

Does not inprove contact it causes a poor contact when the grease gets hot and works it way between the terminal end and the terminal post. Don't recommend doing this. just clean the top of the battery with 1 -2 gal of hot water when needed

SOURCE: rear end whining

if you have a constant whine that raises pitch the faster you go, you have improper backlash adjustment in the differential (rear end), if you have a whooping noise that whoops faster as you drive faster then you have a bad wheel bearing, both can be the result of low fluid level in the rear end.

Looking to lube front end and chassis on a 1999 Chrysler cirrus.where are zerks fittings other than the upper tie rod bushings? What else can I do to stop squeeking in the front end?

Most vehicles have long been manufactured without grease points using either rubber bushes and lubricated for life joints and far from older vehicles having around 30 grease points, those that retained a few grease points confined them to the propeller shaft and the front ball joints.

Sometimes in an effort to prevent over-greasing, the manufacturer would fit a blanking plug that would need to be removed annually and temporarily replaced by a suitable grease point and given just one stroke of a manual greasegun.

Many things can squeak and a strong assistant bouncing the vehicle while you listen at various points with a sonascope is an invaluable method to trace the source.

Rubber bushes often squeak as they age but ball joints and track rod ends can make a terrific racket when the grease escapes - usually evident by a damaged rubber cover...

What are the locations of the grease for the front end of 97 mercury sable..

You most likely don't have any grease fittings. Most front ends are "lifetime lubricated", and they save money by not putting zirc fittings on them.

Does it have grease fittings?

if you mean in the front end then not unless someone has replaced a component as these come pre-lubed from the factory not requiring greasing until replacement.

How do I lube the front chassis?

Depends on the vehicle...some have no serviceable joints. If you're under the car, and you see grease fittings on things like tie rod ends, and ball joints, just take your grease gun in hand and give each one 3 to 5 pumps of the ol' gun, and you're lubed. In reality, the rubber boot under most serviceable fittings will expand a little, and then make a popping noise as excess grease begins to ooze out. It's usual, and that sound and/or seeing excess grease coming out away from the grease fitting are your clues that you have applied enough grease. You'll wanna be systematic about it, looking for each fitting on each side. Vehicles are sometimes asymetric, having one more to one side than the other, but usually involves a steering component, and should be considered "in the center", while the others remain "paired" left and right. Once out from under the vehicle, (or from underneath, if you're able to reach) check the top of each A-arm too (there's an upper and lower on each side) by reaching over/around the top of the front tire, and feeling for a "zerk"/grease fitting there too. These usually point up. Wipe up excess grease and repeat every couple of oil changes. It ain't rocket surgery, so don't be afraid to jump in there.

I'd like to grease the front and rear axles but can't locate the grease nipples.

Check the area where the fittings should be.The holes may be plugged, you will have to remove the plugs and install grease fittings.
Hope this is of some assistance.

Grease fitings locations

Most vehicles come from the factory with no provisions for grease to be added. If you are lucky, you will find small 5/16, "plugs" in moving front end parts (tie rod ends, ball joints etc) which can be removed and replaced with zirk fittings, to allow proper service. If components are "sealed", as they wear out, replacement parts will have fittings.
