is there a check engine light on? There are numbers of things that can cause this.

try the throttle posistion sensor your gonna have to get a manual to find out where its located

Had the same issue with our 1999 chevy astro van, would crank but would not start. It had been raining and windshield had a leak, after 2 days of no rain it started. Pulled codes and was the Security system in the ignition switch. Hope this helps.

driveshaft ends or a loose break caliper. take to mechanic they will usualy point it out. without charge.

You should have a 4l60E in your astro van. Which is electrically controlled, so no vacuum modulator. However, to address the ventilation selector not working... look for a vacuum line exiting the firewall and going to the passenger rear of the intake manifold. You will likely find it broken or disconnected there.

aslong as your tranny is still shifting properly then it should be fine, try getting a fluid flush and a new filter and new fluid and that should fix it up, thats what i did with my 96 astros and that cured them both

Sounds like dirty gas and the fuel filter is clogged...try changing the fuel filter...some are under the car, but most are mounted against the firewall in the engine compartment.
