You should be able to receive live data on very odb1 scanner. Please test the scanner on another vehicle if possible to see if you get the same results. If you do, then the scanner is the issue and might just need a simple restart. If not, then your first car might just give bad obd1 readings.

But you can get free diagnostics at your closest autozone.

Those codes don't match the year of the car for the ecm that should be in it.

The scanner check procedure for Innova or Innova venturer is as follows:
(1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF (disconnected);
(2) Plug the scanner power cord into the cigarette lighter holder;
(3) Connect the scanner to the diagnostic communication circuit or the diagnostic socket of the check connector;
(4) Turn on the ignition switch; start the scanner to check the fault code;
(5) Turn off the ignition switch for troubleshooting and analysis, then turn on the ignition switch, and use the scanner to erase the stored fault code;
(6) Take off the scanner.

Because it is likely not up to date on CAN BUS technology, an uprade is suggested.

My toyota innova is not starting, no current is coming. scanner shows B2799 code. pls help me resolve this issues

Have the same problem on my 2001 Sienna with 184k miles. Knock sensor is the p0330 or p0325 code. Here is a walkthrough of the fix:

2009 and your trying to read the software ?? well do not waste your time because its encrypted so what ever you read will not be the correct code ,also chances are if you try connecting a scanner to the obdii then you invoke the vehicles immobilisor as unauthorised access ,

Check the resistance of the knock sensor (compare it to factory specs)
The knock sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Check for broken/frayed wires leading to the sensor.
