Take it to a shop immediately! My Tribute did the same thing; manual suggested running a couple of tankfuls of "good" gas through it. By 2nd tank, "explosion" under hood. Ended up being TWO catalyic converters had malfunctioned blowing a hole in a valve. Parts were "nationally backordered" so thinking I'm not the only one having this problem. Jan

Engine sputters accelerating seems like its missing
Sounds like you need to check your filter's there is one in the tank also.

08 taurus limited sputters when accellerating from 62 mph or going up hill.
Hi, Sounds like a bad coil or a bad spark plug. Also check for codes on computer. (ECU.)

Sputtering/almost stalling at Red Lights
Is your check engine light on? If it is yo can have it check to dee what code is stored. This should help lead you to the problem.

Looks like you put the mileage left for your gas consumption. Try to push the button on the rear side of the instrument cluster till you get back to the mileage .

I have a 1999 saturn. when the engines cold i can start it and drive for a little while. as it heats up to normal, it will start to sputter when i accelerate. the check engine light is on. the sputtering...

When driving my kia it seems to stall but not cut out just momentarily ? and i have a light on dashboard look like a little tap .... slight noise from engine sounding a little like loose belt maybe
2001 kia sportage, 164,000, driving on highway and engine starts to sputter momentarily, then runs good , then sputters, runs best if you barely push gaspdal, to much pedal and sputters again

Check engine light on. engine was spitting, sputtering for short time. now car seems fine. but light still on.
most autoparts stores will check it for free and tell why it came on..
