I need to disable the ignition so that my teen can't drive it. I heard it was possible. Suggestions?

The smell of petrol means that there is unburned fuel somewhere.
That is not good, and could be very bad, especially if it ignited.

I sincerely hope that you are not smelling this inside the vehicle while you are driving it.

Without running through a list of every possibility that I can think of, I'll make some suggestions.
1) When you smell the petrol, immediately pull over and shut the engine off. Lift the hood to access the engine and try to find the leak. Look at hoses, connections, fuel delivery components, gaskets. Look for wet spots, stains, wash marks where petrol may have moved dust and then evaporated.

Patience and a bit of time, and you should find it.

I'm also guessing that this is an external leak since you did not mention lack of power or backfiring.

Another possible is a failed hose connected to the fuel tank, or a faulty tank vent.

Yes,but now days they are not capable on being responsible and having a car full of teens makes it worse,we are having more wrecks cause of them not paying attention and texting and not wearing their seat belts.

Just remove it. It shouldn't be too hard, take all the parts and harness out, reconnect any cut wires and wrap any exposed wires with electrical tape.

It sounds like a clogged fuel filter. You need to run some tests and communicate what you have noticed, checked, and repaired. If you could, tell me about the vehicles maintenance history. Is the truck up to date on service (oil change, air filter, fuel filter, tune-up). If these suggestions don't help, further testing will be needed. It is possible that something else is going on. You may need to look at fuel pump pressure, the ignition system (a possible misfire or ignition component failure). Other possibilities are a blown ignition module, bad coil wire, or broken cam sensor (it's attached to the distributor). There are detailed tests for these in the Bentley, but your mechanic ought to be able to troubleshoot.

This is presuming it's really a no-spark failure. Ground or power faults can disable the computer, the fuel pump circuit can be open, etc.

I can think of two possibilities here one is the battery is in a poor state and needs charging,repairing or replacing. The other solution is the starter motor is jammed or broken a quick way to fix this is to put the car in gear if it is a manual drive and rock the car back and forth to release the starter.Firstly though check all the wiring as it could be a loose or dodgy wire.Good Luck.

best thing to do is to hookup a fuel pressure gauge and monitor the fuel pump
then you would not change a good pump
odds that pump is failling are not that good

check your relays they could be bad take them to your local parts store they should have the right equipment to test them

well it can be 1 of two things it could be the solenoid or on some rangers thay have a switch on the cluch peddel. I hope this infomation helps you

change the starter. i had the same problem the sylinoid is going bad!!
