This is a South African build Hardbody 2000 year 1998 fitted with NA20 motor which has very heavy fuel consumption. Driving very gently not exceeding 90 kilometers per hour I am getting 11 litres per 100 kilometers. Any ideas for me to look at before i start tampering. I am a retired mechanic and have forgotten a heck of a lot on carburetors.
Many EFI fuel injected engines of today vintage only get 10 litres to 100 km so 11 is not too bad
lower the float level a touch, check and adjust the fuel pressure to a minimum open up the air intake before the air filter, tire sizing ( narrower tire widths reduce rolling resistance ) tire pressures are critical,, reducing load being carried
if it has a cat converter make sure that it is functional and not blocking the exhaust
check for vacuum leaks , check ignition timing
ensure that the brake callipers are free to move on the mounting pins ( stuck pins leave a pad dragging on the rotor
wheel alignment to reduce tire drag on the road
SOURCE: vibration on acceleration
Take the car to have the tires rotated and balanced. That should cure the problem unless the brake rotors are warped.
SOURCE: need cylinder head bolts torque settings for nissan 3.2d
what nissan model do you need the head torques for
SOURCE: The fuel consumption is to low
Tune ups, clean oil & filters , tire air pressure at rated as specied on door panel. good driving habits.. have dealer ck computer settings
SOURCE: I have a 2004 NISSAN SENTRA SE R SPEC V (Nismo), my car sputters
You have 2 Problems, First problem batteries dying you have to make sure connections secure and alternator is charging your batteries (go to an Autozone or Discount advanced they will tell you). The Sputtering is either a bad SPARK PLUG or a damaged Cable going to the spark plug..Change them every 2 years.
SOURCE: how do i adjust the 2 screws on my carburetor on
i use a tach, turn each screw till you get the highest reading on the tach for each screw adjuster.
