What is the firing order for a 1986 buick regal 305 engine

The firing order is the same, 18436572
But, depending on who made the engine, the firing order may go cw or ccw around the cap. You need to check which way the rotor turns when you crank it, then follow the firing order in that direction. Sometimes the number 1 spark plug tower is marked on the cap, if not, put the number one cylinder on top dead center of compression stroke, which ever coil tower the rotor is leading into is number one, then follow the firing order in correct direction of rotation. You driver side cylinder bank should be numbered, 1357 from front to back, passenger side 2468, front to back.
If you replace plugs and plug wires, one at a time, you won't have this problem. Goodluck.

When I replace the spark plug wires on my 2000 4runner how do make sure that the wires are in the correct order

Okay, on the photos I am posting, pick the size of motor that you have....since you didn't post it. When you find the right photo of your motor, the numbers on the engine correspond to the number of the spark plug that goes to the coil...1 to 1, 2 to 2 and so on. This is your firing order and will ensure you have the proper spark plug firing from the correct point:

1984 pontiac bonnerville plug firing order photo

Hi,
I don't know your engine size, but the link below is a picture of the GM small block firing order with distributor.
The firing order, which should be cast into the intake manifold, for the chevy small block V8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The firing order is the numerical sequence in which the spark plugs are fired. The insertion position of each spark plug wire around the circumference of the distributor cap can be found according to a clock face. The insertion sequence determines the firing order. The firing order is followed clockwise around the distributor cap starting from the 6:30 position with the 6:30 position being the number one cylinder spark plug wire.
