The defroster works from the same fan as the vents, so the most probable cause is that the ducts from the fan housing to the vents have come undone. fixing it involves getting way underneath there to see if you can locate the loose ducting. You might have to remove the glove box and / or the instrument cluster to see what is going on back there.

a/c is active when in defrost mode to remove moisture from air. what controls the movement from vent to heat/ or defrost. a lever or switch.

well if you don't mind hard work,then you must pull out the panel that holds your knob switches and check that the cable has not pulled out from the knob,clip it back into place and you should be fine,otherwise you should take it to a repair shop,good luck

If you can not control where the air comes out, check for a faulty blend door under the dash.

Everything is under the dash.you should check for vacuum at the switch for the control that opens the air direction flap.
