Put key in ignition.
Press unlock button on key fob.
Immobilizer should now recognize it, if it was original fob but car or fob battery was changed or is now low.

Saabs are particular about batteries that are otherwise good, but just below 12 volts.

I had to use my emergency key access code to get into my discovery 2. how do i reset the immobiliser on the car?

The immobilizer systems on these vehicles can only be accessed and programmed by a dealer or a shop with a T4 or Autologic scantool system. Typically, replacing batteries in a fob should not present any new issues. Try manually locking the vehicle with the key. One turn to the right with the key in the driver door should lock the whole vehicle, activate the alarm which is indicated by one horn beep, a flash of the parking lights & a rapid flashing of the red light on the dash. After less than a minute, the red light should go to a slower flash and the vehicle is now armed. By placing the key back in the drivers door, one turn to the left should de-activate the alarm and a second turn should un-lock the rest of the vehicle and it should start. If this does not work then the key may not be communicating with the vehicle and may need to be re-programmed. Make sure the batteries in the fob are correct, installed correctly and of good quality. If you do need to have the key re-programmed, make sure you have all the keys so that they can all be done at the same time. Most local shops do not have the capability to access the immobilization systems on these vehicles.

Hello, I have a 2005 Chrysler 300 and it wont start. I changed the battery in my key and it wont start. Initially it would start and shut right off. Now it wont do anything. I had to push it across the...

it started for two seconds and shut off because the immobilizer is active. those fobs are notorious for having bad contacts to their batteries, if you look closely you will probably find that one of the contacts for the battery has come loose. unlock the car with the key itself and it will probably run because there is a switch on the driver's door lock which disables the immobilizer. your lights are flashing because your battery is dead or there is a poor connection to the battery somewhere. get a jump start.

Audi a4 throttle control unit

immobilizer not recognizing key. vehicle will start and cut out immediately. try unplugging instrument cluster and recconecting as they sometimes develope a bad connection due to connector pins being very fine. check connection between ignition barrel and dash cluster. immobilizer built into cluster. if engine control unit has been changed immobilizer won't recognise it, must be adapted using diagnostic reader. this is done by entering instruments [code 17] select adaption [code 10] and channel 00 [erase learned values] and confirm. keys may need to be adapted to immobilizer [only at dealer as key code is needed.

The sensor is not in your key. It is in the Key Fob, unless your car is not equipped with keyless entry. If there is no key fob than your car is not equipped with vehicle immobilization.

Accidently damaged the ignition key.and now the car will start and the cut off,and the key code light flashes

If the key and the fob have separated, you should still be able to start the car by holding the fob near the ignition when you start the vehicle. This will allow your car to read the immobilizer code from the chip in your fob. You can do this temporarily until you can get a new key. Once the car starts, you can move the fob away - it only needs to be there while starting the car.
