Sounds like worn clutches, more than likely the transmission needs rebuilt or replaced.

SOURCE: I have 2003 chevy impala the transmission starts

Have the vehicle scanned. If you have a code in the computer for maximum adapt/ long shift, replace the EPC pressure control solenoid. This a real common problem on the 4t65e transmission.

SOURCE: 2003 Chevy Impala feels like transmission slips

Check trans fluid level. May need to flush trans fluid and filter and adjust bands. First gear and reverse are first to go out. Low fluid level would cause slipage

SOURCE: 2003 chevy impala ls starts then stalls

I have replaced the radiator in my 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS. The car started running hot and shut down. Took it to a radiator shop and found a crack in the radiator. I have replaced 2 thermostats in the car already. I noticed water running from under my car today and it seems it was coming back out of the overflow. I am stumped as to what is going on with this car.

2003 chevy impala starts anti theft comes onput in gear dies wont do nothing

My impala did same thing and then would not start. I suspected anti theft problem I then had chevy dealer change ignition switch. It fixed problem second time I wasn't going to pay $ 750 for so I bought $40 dollar switch on ebay. It was an easy job following great video on you tube. When I went to start car it would not go. While doing relearn procedure (hook up battery charger before starting procedure) I got very tired of door chime so I found it was coming from left front door speaker. I removed wire to stop chime. When i went back to relearn procedure car started right up. I have a steady security light on but car has run fine for months. If you cruise and heater fan has also stopped working add wire from switched terminal on ignition switch to power feed wire on heater. It fixed both problems on mine.

I have a 2010 Chevy impala ... And I won't move forward or backward .. It still starts and you can hear the engine but no movement.. The day before it stopped it was losing pressure to where I had to smash...

What you felt was almost certainly the transmission "slipping" You really shouldn't try to drive the car until you can have the transmission looked at, especially if the noises you experienced were accompanied by and strange odors...

2003 Chevy Impala transmission

Did you have it serviced or rebuilt, If you had it rebuilt I would take it back to the trans shop for warranty repairs.
If they just changed the trans filter I don't think it would cause your problem. You just have bad luck with the slipping trans

I have 2003 chevy impala the transmission starts shifting hard after the car is up to operating temp.sometimes you can turn it off and start it again and it will stop that for a little while.

Have the vehicle scanned. If you have a code in the computer for maximum adapt/ long shift, replace the EPC pressure control solenoid. This a real common problem on the 4t65e transmission.

Transmission feels like it slips on take off.

Agreed. I had the same problem, transmission would lag between 1st and 2nd, and it would **** violently sometimes from a stop. Anyway, they had to rebuild the transmission. I'm not sure how much it would be as I only paid deductible from warranty ($100.00) but they kept saying average rebuild price on 2003 impala is about $1,200-$1,500.
