1982 Pace Arrow fixit problems

Need to have the carburetor rebuilt and want to take it off myself. Is there a place to find out how to do this without putting the fittings back incorrectly after we have it rebuilt?

I would take some digital photos. I would also ask if some of your adapters need to be removed before turning it in to the rebuilder. This is something that can get separated from the carburetor while the carb is rebuilt. BUT you do need the inlet fitting to keep the strainer in place.

Photos will also show any vacuum lines.

I need to know how to change the power steering belt on a 1982 Fleetwood Pace Arrow.

On the pump should be 2 bolts. if you loosen them the pump should slide enough for you to change the belt. Once you get the new belt on you will need to use a tire iron or some steel bar to push the pump back up to put tension on the belt. Hope this helps. Thanks for your service.

78 pace car carburetor vacuum line hook up

78 Pace car? I'm not sure what that is, but I think that year was an Olds? Delta 88? I think it had a 433 in it with a Rochester quadrajet?
I think you need to verify what your car is and more specifically what your vacuum problem is.

The only place you are likely to find a manual for a Pace Arrow is from the manufacter. Although ebay does sometimes have Pace Arrow manuals for sell on it.

That carburator most likely has vacuum secondaries, meaning that the secondaries won't open until there is enough vacuum for them to operate, usually mid or full throttle. You can try to operate them by hand to confirm that the shaft isn't stuck.

Egine chugs intermitently

sounds like it might be a vacuum problem check all the vacuum hoses and spray some wd40 around the base of the carburetor while idling. if the engine revs up then you have a carburetor base gasket problem or a leaking vacuum hose
