I need to bleed my 94 Jag XJ6 ABS. I replaced the pressure ball. Because of failure. The guy I bought it from said I don't have to but I have never heard of that. The breaks work when it is hot or if I park on a forward incline. I am assuming the level is off so I have to remove the air in the system. Or there could be a faulty switch too.

Check the fluid level. Low brake fluid level can cause the brake light to come on warning you of low fluid. It will be off when the car is level, but as you hit bumps and hit your brakes, the fluid that is in there will slosh around indicatind low fluid. Don't overfill and only use DoT 3 brake fluid. Do not substitute anything else.
could just be a dodgy switch or earth connection ,doe it have any pattern when it flashes or just a on and off ,because i am thinking of the alarm playing up
The jag 6 cylinder does emit white smoke on start up generally, its condensation being burnt. However, if it is excessive, you should check to see if you are losing coolant. Then its a whole new ball, game. Black smoke indicates excess fuel being burnt or lack of it , ishould say and blue smoke indicates oil burning.
Hope this helps
I have a 94 4.0L and I use 10W-40 in the winter and 20W-50 in the summer. It keeps the pressure up and it doesn't smoke when I start it because of the valve seals. It takes 8 quarts everytime including the filter. 2 gallon jugs. I change it about every 4,000 miles.
