How can I tell if my 2001 fxdwg coil is single or duel fire

check the voltage of the new coil
if it is a due voltage (12 volt --7.5 volts ) then when it is running and there is a resistor or lack of resistor in the run wire to the coil, the coil may be overheating and breaking down
check in your workshop manual what the correct voltage coil is for your car ( single 12 vots or duel voltage )I suspect that your new coil is a duel coil when it should be a 12 volt

O2 sensors won't make misfires they only monitor air in the emissions if you have a random misfire it's most likely gonna be your coil pack or a cam pos sensor the cam sensor detects the location of the cam and tell the pcm and it tells the coil to fire your are getting O2 codes cause it detects unburned fuel it the exhaust

Crank shaft sensor sends pulse to ECM telling the computer to fire the coils. Check the sensor.

Your vehicle has a distributer cap and rotor. Below is the firing order for you. I hope this helps and good luck.

Look at the 8th digit on the vin #
3 = Duel
P = Single

Dual points are usually a high performance application, and when they are set right they can provide your engine with a huge timing advance curve, as compared to a stock application. The points open and close sending a dwell signal to the ignition coil telling the coil when to fire the spark plug. They are a lot better performance wise, but they are also trickier to set properly. I can do it because I have set so many of them.

with electronics the problem is when you fix one weakness in the curcuit it will go to the next.. the best thing you can do if its the ignition system causeing the problem is replace as much as you can afford, also having a clean fuel and air filter will help it run nicely

if it has duel coils it has been modified with off road parts

i dont no what your doing a hydrogen gen gets tapped in to the air intake make sure you run a bubbler!!!!!!!!!!! and a wire to the egnition to shut it on and off if you forget to shut it off it will blow up when you start the car

its mark on ignition coil cylinder number 1 is behind the alternator number 2 is front 3 rear and so on hope it help fixya our post thanks pierre
