Question about 2004 Chevrolet Venture Passanger
Transmission struggles to go from 1st to 2nd. It will rev but not advance. If I pull off accelerator and then retry it will advance... drives beautifully otherwise. Seems to drive somewhat better after driving for extended lengths of time. Fluid looks and smells fine. has 127k miles on it.

IT IS NOT GOING INTO NEUTRAL. IT HAS LOST THE DIRECT DRIVE CLUTCH PACK INTERNALLY. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS HIGH MILEAGE. IF SO AND YOU CHANGE THE FLUID IT CLEANS UP ALL THE VARNISH IN THE TRANNY AND THE END RESULT IS TRANNY MALFUNCTIONS DEPENDING ON WHAT KIND OF CARE IT HAS HAD IN THE PAST.

You might have burned out the transmission plates, try getting the transmission out of the car and inspect the plates inside.
