Code 17229 transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch 2 malfunction P0845-003 mechanical Failure-intermittent
SOURCE: 200 AUDI QUATTRO A6 TRANSMISSION CHECK.
The trans don't have a dipstick, they have to be checked at a dealership with a vag tool, they have to be checked at a certian temperature of operation, as far as fluid i would use the audi recommended G-052-162-A2 atf fluid required
SOURCE: I have a 2001 Audi A6 2.8 Quattro that needs new oxygen sensors
YOU HAVE 4 OXYGEN SENSORS AND IF YOU HAVE A 2.7T YOU WILL HAVE TWO EXHAUST TEMP SENSORS ALSO . GET THEM FROM AUTOHAUSAZ.COM
SOURCE: audi a6 quattro 1.8t It says press clutch pedal to start engine
The shift needs to be in park or neutral to start. to shift from neutral with the engine running, you have to touch the brakes. Can't explain the label on the dash, unless it has been replaced.

A6 2.0 TDI 1997
Got same problem around 35000Km. Engine light on with same error P0471. I was in France, Audi reset error and found nothing suspect. 4 weeks later same problem. (I felt engine was executing filter regeneration cycle very often). After 1 more week, Exhaust symbol came into large display and engine into safe mode (max 90Km/h). Contacted my Audi dealer in Belgium. They immediately told me pressure sensor (measures obstruction over DPF) was defective ; happens more often. Car was just beyond 2 Y old. Replaced under warranty. No more problems.

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox. But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please
