I have to put the transmission in low1 then low2 the get the tranny to engage
The OD light is flashing to indicate a fault is set in the Transmission control module. Have the system scanned to see what that code is. Based on my experience with this model the transmission will need to be rebuilt ior replaced with a factory rebuilt unit.

I had a similar problem which turned out to be caused by a leaking vacuum line.

sounds like a 700r4 tranny thats usually what happens when they decide to quit you loose overdrive and reverse. About 900 to 1000$ to rebuild.

This is what my 04 Kia Rio is doing exactly. I was told that the TCM and Shift Solenoid "C" is faulty. Am trying to figure out how to go about fixing that without paying more than the car is worth. My tech checked with the local Kia dealership and the TCM new is I think around $700. You also have to buy the program to tell this high dollar part what to do and that is right at $100. I have found that sometimes if I let the car warm up and then keep hitting the overdrive button, eventually it starts shifting correctly.
