    Thanks for your prompt reply!
    My car is a WV Polo 1.4CL 1997 MK4 (6n) 3-Door Hatchback.
The passenger side electric window does not go up but down only. I have been with this problem for some time and was successful in manually pulling up the window with the switch pressed.
The window is now stuck 1//3 way up and will not move even when pulled up manually. Only down...
I have removed the door-card and the foam-like material but could not really made up my mind where to start.
I still lack the courage and experience to decide how to diagnose where my problem lies and where to start and diagnose fixing it. Though I think both the motor and he sitch are OK as It would not bring the window down. Or am I mistaken?
    Can u help?
    Thanks in Advance

    Thanks Again.
How do I remove the window switch without breaking it please?

    Dear CCWILL
I dropped into my local garage today. They claim that the switch and motor are OK but the mechanism need changing.
This company is selling the part for £58 delivered.
The local garage will charge me 1 hour to replace the part .
But from my personal observance it seems that the wire is in very good shape but has loosened or disconnected somewhere inside the mechanism or the clips holding the window have broken. I would like to save this money and have the satisfaction to fix it myself but I am not sure where to start and whether fixing back the wire is a doable thing.
    Please advise and thanks again!

nb Electricwindowsdirect ,in their Q&A,claim that installation "may require a simple electrical connection" ?????????

    Q. Can I install this part myself?
    A. Fitting instructions are included. The replacement window regulator utilises the same fixed points as the original part, but may require a simple electrical connection.

Carefully remove the window switch, open it and spray electrical contact cleaner on contacts. Try it now. You may need to remove door panel and lubricate guides and tracks for window. Let me know.

Spray clean the switch first and try it. If full power is not leaving the switch, the window will not go up as it takes more force to raise a window. I've seen these problems over and over. Keep me informed.

If you are mechanically inclined, give it a shot. If not, you're better off letting an expert handle it. You have to be careful the glass do not break. The electrical connection should be fixed if loose. I am sorry I cannot give exact steps how to fix about this particular car window problem. Good luck.

Sounds like you need a new motor for your regulater, take the door panel off and look at the motors fuction, you can conect a wire conecter from your drivers door motor to the passenger wires it should work ,

Sound like a window switch.
If you didn't hear any mechanical noises from window before it happened , most likly - switch. If noises were present , might be window regulator or a motor.
