My 2003 Ford Expedition continues to sputter, miss
My 2003 Ford Expedition makes a sputtering noise and seems to miss when I put my foot on the gas AND today while I was parked with the motor running, IT CUT OFF. What could this possibly be???
Thank you for the reply. Also wanted to mention that it seems to fight to stay on...today while at a stand still in traffic, it seemed to jolt forward when trying to stay on (after the little sputtering noise). Do you still think MAF sensor?Thank you for the reply. Sputtering is usually a sign of having a fuel issue. You need to hook a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and confirm that you have at least 40# of pressure at the rail.
You have a transmission problem. Tcc(torque converter clutch) solenoid stuck. Basically when you put it in drive, it is starting out in overdrive. Causing the engine to die.
Amelia, we just bought one off a lease 5 weeks ago (purchased from a dealer). We are having the same symptoms, suddenly, as you describe.
Took it back to the dealership. After a bit of drama, they agreed to foot the repair bill ($1000). It was a broken distributer cap and wiring which should have been replaced before it was resold to us. What a pain.
