ONE CODE IS A 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRANS CODE AND IT RUNS GREAT WHAT SHOUILD I CHECK???
P0300 is a random engine misfire code. P 1781 is a transmission code, but it refers to a malfunctioning engine speed signal (crankshaft angle sensor). A bad crankshaft angle sensor or camshaft angle sensor can cause the P0300 code. A large list of items can cause a P0300 code, but since you have both, I'd be checking the crankshaft angle sensor and the related circuit. Sometimes, the mounting screws loosen up, which can cause the sensor to not function properly, all the time. Get this fixed, because over a period of 4 to 6 months, this can destroy the catalytic converter in the exhaust system ($$$$)

I don't have a solution but I can tell my story on code P0300. What I have replaced so far that did not fix the misfire problems are 1. EGR valve, 2. throttle position sensor, 3. Idol air control valve, 4. The rear crank position sensor, 5. the control module under the coil packs, and 6. the fuel filter. So far it seems to run a little better when I unplug the EGR valve but that is only temporary. I still have the stumbling random misfire but not all the time. It comes and goes. Currently it will run smooth and strong for a while, maybe 10 miles or so, then it just looses power. When I back off the gas it smooths out a bit then as I accelerate again it misfires all over the place with the tach jumping up and down. It will do this sometimes for a few seconds to a few minutes then smooth out and run strong and smooth again. The a mile or so down the road it will misfire again all over again. Sometimes it goes for 30 miles without a misfire at all. I have to question how the cat could cause this issue as mentioned in the list of possible causes.
