Question about 1999 Chrysler 300M

Oil capacity Just curious what the oil capacity is. Need to change my oil and don't know how much to buy. Also, does this car run better on regular oil, synthetic, or regular/synthetic blend?

Why when the book says 10,000 miles between synthetic oil changes does the oil change light come on at 5,000?

Hi Sandra, The oil service light in the vehicle has been preset at the factory to 5000 intervals for use with mineral oils. The engine does not know the difference between the oils. Ask your service center if the warning is adjustable for use with synthetic oil. There is no problem (except financial) in changing the oil every 5000 instead of ten, in fact it will help maintain the engine in better condition. Best regards John

Questions, no problems. 2002 Chevrolet Malibu, 72,500 mileage. 1. Pros and cons of switching from regular oil to a synthetic (AMSOIL). Also which oil is better for the car during our heat wave of 100...

if you have the 3.1 liter engine than don't waste your money on synthetic. There are several known mechanical issues with that motor that synthetic will not help with. It will last just as long on conventional oil.

If you live in a part of the world that sees snow than synthetic will help with cold weather start ups.

If you have any oil leaks synthetic could make the leak worse or it could make it better.

Synthetic is of course more expensive. It does not mean you can run longer intervals between oil changes. If the engine is tight and efficient and extended service interval with synthetic oil is a possibility. If the engine has higher miles, starting to show signs of wear and is no longer as efficient or tight as it once was than extended services are not an option and may do more harm than good.

Interstate batteries are one of the best. Exide and NAPA brands would be the next on my list. Stay away from brands like energizer, werker, batteries plus.

What kind of oil can i use in my 1999 gs 300 is synthetic oil better or jus use regular oil which do u perfer?

Synthetic oil is better than carbon based oil because it is cleaner, lasts longer, more efficient & wont leave carbon build up like conventional oil. But if you ran regular oil for quite awhile, your engine will have carbon build up. Synthetic oil breaks up the buildup. That is good. Bad thing is sometimes that buildup is keeping you from leaking or burning oil. If you switch to synthetic oil keep an eye on oil consumption. If you start using or leaking it out of gaskets or seals, you will need to get it out & put in regular oil. If not, you can go longer between oil changes & your engine will run more efficiently for a longer period of time.

OIl, synthetic or regular, what's the difference?

Synthetic oil won't break down as quickly as conventional oil, gives better protection and longer life. Excellent product, I Strongly suggested for those out there who forget to do their oil changes regularly or courier/ work vehicles.

I use conventional Oil in my jimmy with 5% of Lucas engine oil treatment and service the engine every 3,000 miles. I find it to costly for the Synthetic oil every 3,000 miles, and as for the high mileage oil you can buy. The high mileage oil has a higher fluid retention like adding Lucas engine oil treatment to any conventional oil, so you decide on what type of oil you like to use in your engine.
Good luck and hope this helps.

My car has 140,000 kms hw often do i need an oil changeits a 1997 honda civic

To keep it simple: Your car should have used synthetic oil originally:

If you are using Regular Motor Oil - I found through many years of doing oil changes & auto repairs that 3000 miles is the MAX you should drive before changing. After that it tends to lose it's protective qualities & you can actually feel the difference (once you've removed a few thousand dipsticks) in the viscosity.

Synthetic Lubricant- Higher Quality Products will make your car last longer & I can suggest no better improvement to anyones vehicle than to use Synthetic Oil. Change at 6000-7500 miles depending on type driving. City, Idling a lot, hard driving = 6000 & Cruising/highway regular speeds=7500.

Always make sure your air filter is clean & a new Oil filter is installed each time as this will keep the new oil clean longer which provides better lubrication & performance. Some car Mfgs say to skip oil filter change & do every other but I like the results I have rec'd with changing it each time. It also helps to keep the new oil cleaner by not mixing in the dirty oil that is in the filter & associated piping.

If your car is running well, stick with the 5W30 that was recommended as Honda engines are extremely close tolerance. If it has used regular motor oil & is a little noisy, during the warmer weather you could step up to a 10w40 or even better a 15W50 in the summer, preferably Synthetic. Better fuel economy, acceleration & less wear & tear.

Finally: 140K should earn you a badge. That's just a well broken in Honda if it's been well maintained and you should expect much more service from it. I hope that this helps. Good luck!

Hi - I wanted to buy oil for my 94 landcruiser and was wondering what kind I should get. The manual recommends 10W30, but I can not find whether it should be synthetic or not?

Of course synthetic is better, but it seems to me that regular oil is fine, and you need to change is often enough to get rid of water and acids, so that you don't really need synthetic.
Personally I also prefer 10W40, because it holds up better on heavy wear, like on the camshaft. But 10W30 gets slightly better mileage.

I don't know what oil to put in my 1995 Cadillac deville it dose not say synthetic or regular

Reqular or synthetic. The choice is yours. If you tend to run over the mileage when it is due for changing, I would recommend synthetic, if not, regular works just as well.
